Jose Almeida Posted February 27, 2016 Report Posted February 27, 2016 (edited) Hi, I have 2 planes that use Gizmo, DC3 and Cessna Corvalis, and they both started reporting Gizmo problems; I've attached the log file. Thanks, José GizmoLog.txt Edited February 27, 2016 by Jose Almeida Insert signature Quote
Jose Almeida Posted March 1, 2016 Author Report Posted March 1, 2016 Hi, I think I may have found the root of the problem. I am running x-plane from an SSD and some time ago I decided to move the aircraft folder to the hard disk, in order to free some SSD space; for this I created a simlink from the original location to the new one. I believe I haven't flown x-aviation planes sinec then and so i did not detect any problems so far. What I think is happening is that Gizmo does not allow call to outside the x-plane folder, resulting in an error report when I try to load one of thos planes. I don't want to move the aircraft folder back to it's original location, so it seems to me that the only solution will be to link the individual aircraft categories, rather than the aircraft folder, and leave x-aviation folder in it's original location, under the original aircraft folder. This is a little inconvenient, since I have several categories, created by me, and I would like to be able to create new categories without the hassle of linking them every time. It will also be a waste of valuable SSD space. If someone can suggest a different approach I will be glad to hear. José Quote
Ben Russell Posted March 1, 2016 Report Posted March 1, 2016 Quick cost analysis; New SSD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147373 $150, 500GB (first one I found.) 150 / 500 = $0.30 per gig. Saab Passenger Variant Default Install: ~ 280mb 0.30 * 0.28 = $0.084 worth of SSD space saved. Gizmo is sandboxed inside the x-plane folder for your protection. Any further investigation into this matter is simply not cost effective. Thank you very much for taking the time to investigate and report what was causing your issue. It may be possible to find combinations of symlinks inside the X-A product folders that work but it's probably not really worth your time. Thanks again. Quote
