The mac is for work, so won't be simming on it - the pc's actually faster despite being a year old, so will be sticking with win 7 for that.

Specs in my sig. The mac is one of the new mid 2010 off the shelf base spec 27" i5. Was tempted to grab the i7 and extra ram, but needed to buy creative suite.

Sent this to Ben:

I have downloaded the 9.45 demo with scenery removed and did the following:

Updated drivers from Catalyst 10.5 to 10.7

-at this point the installer normally gives a notice that the machine needs to be rebooted - as it did not, I checked the driver in properties, which listed the 10.7 driver installed. At this stage, as no reboot, some 10.7 components may not have been running.

I then ran x-plane 9.6 and had a failed launch.

I then ran x-plane 9.45 which ran after clicking understand to the missing scenery file.

Launched 9.6 which then ran for the 4 times I launched it.

---

Rebooted

---

Ran 9.6rc2 - failed every launch (5 times) by stopping responding

Ran 9.45 - failed every launch (5 times) by causing the driver itself to stop reponding - driver then reset and windows notification that driver had recovered popped up. This always occured after pressing 'understand'.

Hope this is of help.

My follow up reply was:

Something useful:

On a 4870x2 using crossfire on core i7 windows 7 x64 with catalyst 10.7:

x-plane 9.2 clean install (no scenery) runs

x-plane 9.45 web demo with missing scenery file causes driver to crash and x-plane 9 to stop responding with or without --num_workers=1 or --no_threaded_ogl (possibly because of the driver crash)

x-plane 9.60rc2 web demo causes x-plane 9 to stop responding

x-plane 9.60rc2 web demo with --num_workers=1 runs

x-plane 9.60rc2 web demo with --no_threaded_ogl runs

x-plane 9.60rc2 full install causes x-plane 9 to stop responding

x-plane 9.60rc2 full install with --num_workers=1 runs

x-plane 9.60rc2 full install with --no_threaded_ogl runs
