I've been watching a lot of movies on Youtube with the theme: Can an amateur land an airliner, or similar (highly unlikely).

In the movies, it is predicted that the amateur can get detailed instructions how to do. The first problem I can think of that arises: how to get in touch with someone via the radio? How does he get the frequencies and how does he handles the radio? Then comes many other problems, for instance: the one he comes in contact with must be well wellinformed on just the type of the airplane the amateur sits in.

Some comments?

Landing in a simulator is one thing.  There's a false sense of security centered a crash where no one gets hurt.  Landing in a real life situation, that security disappears, and you know you only have 1 go at making it down in 1 piece.  I took off and landed countless times in FS5 and FS98 in just about all the default aircraft.  Full of confidence.

My first landing in a Beech Skipper in August of 1997, I nearly killed myself and the instructor.  I bounced the aircraft on landing.

Coming in on base and final, I was gripping that wheel so tight, the instructor had to tell me to loosen my grip at least half a dozen times.

It's definitely a very different scenario.
