CharlieAlpha Posted August 3, 2014 Report Posted August 3, 2014 Hello community, I am new to the X-Plane world ;-) After trouble-free installation of the FF 757 and Amsterdam, nor the Saab 340A should enrich the hangar. Bought, installation, end. X-Plane (64 bit) will not boot ... "Fatal Error SteamAPI_Init () failed ..." I use X-Plane via Steam ;-)Apparently, the Saab and Steam do not like? The most important insight -> if the "Gizmo64.plugin" removed from the resources / plugins folder, X-Plane starts again. If I read correctly, the Saab needs this plugin to work? A few more information to isolate the problem: - Only the 64-bit version does not start - Steam is of course connected - X-Aviation credentials are entered correctly when installed - X-Plane checked via Steam on error -> no change - Installation of Saab to run again -> no change - Loaded latest version of the plugin Gizmo64 - -> no change - Mac OSX Firewall is disabled -> no change Attach Files: GizmoLog.txt & Log.txt Someone further ideas or even the remedy? Preliminary ever thank you! Christian PS: thank you google for the translation :-)GizmoLog.txtLog.txt Quote
Ben Russell Posted August 3, 2014 Report Posted August 3, 2014 I'm currently waiting on Aerosoft for a Steam Key so I can properly diagnose any issues that arise. Quote
Ben Russell Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 Currently installing X-Plane Steam Edition. I will be able to properly test this in the next day or so. Thanks for your patience. Quote
ezfox Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 I´m using the Steam version and Saab without problems, but i dont have FF757 and Amsterdam installed.Maybe you want to check if it runs without these two additions. Quote
Ben Russell Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 ezfox: Thanks for your feedback. It's nice to know others are having no issues. Gizmo64 on Mac + X-Plane Steam has a definite problem that I've been working through with the help of Laminar Research. This issue will require a plugin update to resolve. Keep an eye out for an update announcement on forums and in your email if you're a paying customer. Thanks. Quote
ezfox Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 Ah, sorry - didnt see that he was running OSX.I´m on Windows 7 64bit. Quote

CharlieAlpha Posted September 6, 2014 Author Report Posted September 6, 2014 Hello Ben, any news? greetsChris Quote
Ben Russell Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 CharlieAlpha: The only way I can get the error message "Fatal Error SteamAPI_Init () failed ..." to appear is to try and start X-Plane from the Finder.Starting X-Plane from Steam this error message never appears for me. Unfortunately there is another error with Gizmo64 version 14.01.___ that the Saab ships with. This error only occurs when using X-Plane (10.25) for Steam on a Mac. This problem is fixed in both X-Plane 10.30 and the next version of Gizmo64 which is not publicly available yet. X-Plane 10.30 should be available "soon" on Steam. The next version of Gizmo64 is still in development. I'm sorry but I cannot give you a fix "right now" only a promise that in the near future it will be fixed when updates are released. Thanks for your patience. Quote
dr_nerdrage Posted September 8, 2014 Report Posted September 8, 2014 Thanks for keeping us updated, Ben. I am limited to a Mac for the coming weeks and am actually off work and was planning to get into the Saab, but oh well Another time! Quote
CharlieAlpha Posted September 22, 2014 Author Report Posted September 22, 2014 Hi Ben, thanks for the support. With X-Plane 10.30 the Saab operates without any problem. Wonderful!! greetsChris Quote
