So, I'm guessing it's one of the facades causing the crash again (Perhaps another mistake). When you lower the settings, I'm guessing it doesn't try and draw the facade.

I'll have a try again over the weekend to work it out, however the problem is I can't get it to crash.

HI Tony,

Have just been messing around around LOWI using v4. Stunning - but a very picturesque runway. It did this in one of the earlier versions but was fixed in v3.

See pics here:    http://1drv.ms/1lvBRZD

Frame rate seems to be improving all the time which is great.

Hoping to get some pics of the Runcorn Bridge tomorrow weather permitting and will also try and get some Tesco and Coop shots - any others you need? I believe you want them square on?

cheers

Peter

Thanks Peter

You're the second to report this, so it's seem quite sporadic. I'll have a look into it, I'm guessing it's the surrounding farmland causing it.

Also, if you do take shots of Runcorn Bridge, Try and get it from the side, which maybe quite difficult. If you manage to get some shots of supermarkets, try and get them straight on, i.e. Front of the building, and optionally the side.

I'm also flying over to the UK next month, so I'll have my camera on the ready also to grab a few shots :)

I've flown a test path from Frankfurt northward towards Hamburg to explore the beautiful scenery, but when a new tile needs to be loaded I see only water below! This happens only with w2xp enabled. Is it a bug or maybe my hdd is not fast enough? I've used the last scenery released by simheaven. Thanks.

Same here Cris, on my Windows laptop which has a slow disk, it sometimes happens that X-Plane can't load the scenery fast enough. I'm plagued with this issue on FSX and P3D as well, i.e. Blurry scenery.

One thing that really slows down scenery loading is smart exclusions. Most of Simheaven's w2xp scenery has smart exclusions enabled, so when X-Plane is loading the tile, it has to calculate what's visible and not from the scenery below. Here are two things that can help (and have helped me)

1) Remove any other scenery you don't need below Germany, .e.g If you have OSM+Autogen for Europe installed, disable it. X-Plane has to load both sceneries to calculate exclusions.

2) If you're using ZL17 photo scenery, consider going to ZL16 unless you invest in an SSD disk. This is a big cause of slow loading times as well

3) Use W2XP without smart exclusions, e.g. The ones blacky uploads generally don't have these. Such tiles use less memory, load quicker, but of course, completely block out X-Plane's default autogen.

Thank you Tony, I did all the things you have suggested but still no go, I think it's due to the complexity and number of objects being loaded in a short time, so I think to be hardware limited. A new pc is worth to buy though, the scenery really deserves it! ;)

What problem are you facing ?

I see only water when the tile is being loaded in-flight with w2xp

Hmm ya that could be an access issue. Though it does not happen on my laptop or my desktop.   I would suggest trying putting Objects on Default and try.

You may not noticed much of difference between Extreme and Default. Give it a try.

I get blury textures on the laptop and it takes a few seconds to show it up correctly. My settings on the laptop for Objects is to Default.

what RPM is your HDD ? on a hdd it will be slower plus if you have a slower CPU and that could also slow it down.

My objects are at a lot so not much more than default, my hdd is 7200 but cpu is dual core 2.4 not so powerful

Cris, I've been looking through how we handle the density settings, and I found a bug with how it handles objects. Basically, I've accidentally told X-Plane that I want all objects visible no matter what, so I need to fix this, and get it into the next version. The density settings do work for facades however.

Also, if you pause, does the scenery eventually appear, and how long does it normally take to load the tile?

The scenery won't appear or at least I haven't been so patient to give it enough time to load eventually.. In another case XP has given an error telling that 30 seconds had passed since no data could be loaded an then ended in CTD.

This is happening with the Germany file which contains more than 220000 objects! I'll keep u updated.

Hmm, I think something else is going on here if I'm honest. Is it running out of memory?

It is not evident as far as XP vram counter is concerned but the effects indeed let me suppose so, I have only 1 gig vram but 8 gigs of ram.

Same here, on my Mac I only have 1GB of Video RAM, but 16GB of RAM. Can you give me some steps to reproduce the problem, e.g. an airport to take of from and try out. It might actually be something on the tile causing it to crash and not load.

Ok try starting from EDDF and then go north east towards Berlin (i used a liner) when a new tile has to be loaded the problem occurs; another flight was from venice to Munich, when entering into germany no tile again..

Effectively I also had the same issue. Flying from Geneva toward south of Germany and empty tile when arriving above Germany. This empty tile was due to long loading time.

My XPlane runs onto a 7200rpm HDD (200Mbit/s of throughput) with 3Gigs of VRAM and 24Gigs of RAM.

Thanks Soufiane, I wonder if this is caused by the exclusions, I suspect this is the case. I don't generally use smart exclusions, and I don't have this problem, but I've noticed if I use scenery with smart exclusions enabled, e.g. From simheaven, it can double/triple the loading times. Did you generate Germany yourself, i.e. do you use smart exclusions?
