tonywob Posted May 9, 2014 Author Report Posted May 9, 2014 I don't really know what to suggest at the moment. I think Simheaven has just uploaded Austria/Switzerland and Germany all together using the SD config file in 0.4.0, which should improve things a little bit. Also, I suggest you try the following things: 1) Disable any other scenery you are not using, e.g. Simheaven's OSM Europe scenery. As X-Plane still has to load both to calculate exclusions which will increase loading times.2) Enable texture compression if you haven't already. Also, let me know how much memory is being reported. Once 0.4.0 is out, you can and should just build your own scenery, and disable everything you don't want or need in the config file. Also, Simheaven generates their scenery with smart exclusions which can double loading times as X-Plane has to calculate what's visible and not. So, if you are happy to live without autogen from X-Plane, then this will give you a performance boost as well. Quote
Ironmaiden Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 There is a bug with Simheaven Germany. First it takes a hell of a time to uncompress and if i click on properties of the folder it will show as 27 GB but the internal folder shows as a 1.2 Gb Quote
PilotBalu Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 No bug, I've just checked Osm_Germany_beta4-sd.7z, extracted and there are 1,27 GB in the folder, all looks fine! Quote
tonywob Posted May 9, 2014 Author Report Posted May 9, 2014 Ironmaiden, I'm presuming you're using 7zip? http://www.7-zip.org/ Quote

tonywob Posted May 9, 2014 Author Report Posted May 9, 2014 Nah i am using winrar. Probably why it doesn't work then Quote

Ironmaiden Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 Probably why it doesn't work then You mean i should use 7zip only ? Quote
tonywob Posted May 9, 2014 Author Report Posted May 9, 2014 Seems to work best, But up to you of course Quote
crisk73 Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 So, if you are happy to live without autogen from X-Plane, then this will give you a performance boost as well. Sure I can live without if it makes germany flyable.. Looking for a "osm only" release Quote

PilotBalu Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 There is already a osm only: http://simheaven.com/experimental/Europe/NeedsWMMFromWorld2Xplane/ These sceneries are rendered withou smart exclusions. Quote
tonywob Posted May 9, 2014 Author Report Posted May 9, 2014 These sceneries are rendered withou smart exclusions. Aren't those the ones Blacky did using the HD config? Quote
Ironmaiden Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 Hmm I don't know its still taking time with 7zip. Though i am unzipping on the WD external USB drive. But I have also unzipped Eindhoven from simheaven and that was fast. Quote
tonywob Posted May 10, 2014 Author Report Posted May 10, 2014 0.4.0 is now available for download on the blog. It includes a lower def config file, so hopefully the generated scenery won't require a NASA supercomputer to run Quote

Ironmaiden Posted May 11, 2014 Report Posted May 11, 2014 Hey guys, anyone know how to do the flight recording ? as putting up screen shots is not doing anything to justify the awesomeness. Quote

Do you mean video recording? Sadly, the built-in recording of X-Plane 10 only works in 32 bit mode, which I think almost nobody uses anymore nowadays... You will have to use some third-party software like Fraps etc. Quote

Daikan Posted May 11, 2014 Report Posted May 11, 2014 Yeah the video recording . I heard Fraps eats the frames. The trial version works okay for me although it's limited to 30 seconds. As discussing video capture software is kinda off-topic I suggest you check out this thread instead. Quote

tonywob Posted May 11, 2014 Author Report Posted May 11, 2014 Is it lower than sd config already used on simheaven? I don't know if I'm honest. If PilotBalu has used the default config file which comes with v0.4.0, then yes. But I believe he tweaks it slightly, and also adds smart exclusions. Ironmaiden, I look forward to seeing your video ;-). Regarding fraps, I heard that you can get it working better by saving the video file to a memory disk, Blacky should be able to advise here, as he's done lots of videos, and they're all smooth. I know nothing about video recording, YouTube etc. Quote

tonywob Posted May 11, 2014 Author Report Posted May 11, 2014 If anyone downloaded 0.4.0 yesterday, I've uploaded a patch to 0.4.1a to world2xplane.com. This should "hopefully" fix an issue with hanging on certain scenery tiles and also resolve a problem with some badly rotated buildings. I'd recommend anyone to remove 0.4.0 and use this beta instead. Quote
