PA38-112 Tomahawk

+1 on Chandler's Pipers. I haven't tried some of the more modern, high-end payware aircraft, but based on everything I've read, the handling of Chandler's planes are second to none. At the end of the day, what could possibly be more important than that?

I used his Piper Warrior for several hundred hours to become a r/w instrument-rated pilot. I also used the Saratoga to increase my workload, so that when I flew a 172 in the real world, things would be that much easier. As it turned out, I eventually stepped into a very high performance aircraft (faster than the Saratoga, in fact), so I'm very grateful that I spent the time in his higher end airplanes, too.

There is absolutely no way that I would have reached my current level of proficiency were it not for his aircraft.

I would take some of those "glowing reviews" lightly.  I looked at the reviews left for his Bell 206 and all I can say is either their expectations were very low, or they weren't aware there are more realistic models out there with accurate cockpits and panels. You certainly couldn't learn to fly a Bell 430 based on his.

So I hope his Pipers are a lot better.

Thanks. What I wonder is, if I train for real, is it ok to train in the sim in another plain? It will help?

I have found a tomahawk here:

But dunno how good it is. I mean, when it comes to flight model.

I have that tomahawk, It a good plane for freeware.

Before you buy anything wait a few months. Chances are Alabeo will release their Tomahawk for X-Plane.

True, Chandler's planes use stock X-Plane gauges and instruments.  True, Chandler's planes don't have photo textures.  If you're looking for the latest and greatest eye candy, Chandler's planes aren't for you.  If by "realistic models" you are referring to the way they look, then Chandler's planes aren't for you.  But if you're looking for planes with the best flight models available, then Chandler's planes are for you.  If flight model is the most important feature for you, Chandler's planes are the most accurate available.  I'm not arguing your opinion, but I know Jason personally and I know of many helicopter pilots flying his models for training purposes.  No, they don't simulate full systems, but they FLY like the real thing.

I just found it strange how, for example, with his Bell 430 one would realistically train up in a cockpit with default xplane switches that bear little resemblance to a real 430 other than their vaguely-similar positions in the cockpit.  I think I'd have difficulty driving a Ford Escort if it too came with xplane default switches, come to that.

I wasn't insinuating that his aircraft needed to be photo-realistic, but certainly with his Bell 206 it needs work to at least make that panel look like a 206 one. Great if it flies like a 206, not so great if the view forward convinces you you're in something else.

I just wonder how his 206 "flies better" than the Dreamfoil 206, even though that too was verified by 206 pilots as flying as close as the original as can be, and was out at the time of the review I read.

I'm not picking holes, I am genuinely curious. Especially in light of my recent dealing with a company where, as an aside, they asked me for advice in setting up a training simulator.  I had to decline, as I know nothing about it.

Yeah he is not so talented at building helicopters. His Piper package though are used in Hong Kong Aviation club where I train for members who will leave for overseas training on Pipers, but we use custom panel sets which are certified by the FAA. I also bought PFC training equipment.

It flies quite close to real, my instructor have 100+ hours on the tomahawk back in flight school, got him to test it out and he was amazed by the accuracy of flight model.
