vsully Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 I'm looking for some nice all-round planes that i can do bush ops with but that aren't too slow to get me somewhere. I'm going to buy the C185 eventually but I want an easier bush plane to practice on before i go with the 185. i'm considering the C172N do you guys recommend it? is it any good? Quote
BWolf7 Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 I wouldn't say the C172 is really a "bush" plane.. more just GA.Go for the C185, and the expansion pack if you want a good bush plane. 1 Quote
fastaviationdata Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Go for the C185. The 180s and 185s are considered to be prime bush planes. While the Cessnas will not offer the same short field abilities of the Super Cub, they easily will carry four adults. Quote
ointment Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 There are a lot to choose from. STMA has the Beaver, the Otter, the Sherpa, the Husky and the Cub/Super Cub. Then there's the C208 Caravan and the C185 Skywagon from Carenado. All great planes. Personally, I've just seen the Beaver that Pete is working on and can't wait for that to come out. Quote
Mario Donick Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 The C185F and the Husky are my favorites. 1 Quote
vsully Posted September 23, 2013 Author Report Posted September 23, 2013 Yeah I'm going for the C185/Bush Pack. I like the Beaver and am waiting for that to come out. I considered the C208B but I'll wait until Carenado updates it to V10. Quote
DanTheDane Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 The C185 is definitely one of the best bush planes for x-plane. Be however prepared to practice taxiing, cause this thing is a beast to maneuver on the ground Quote
sqrt(-1) Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 My favorite bush planes are STMA's Beaver and Carenado's C185 with the Bush Extension Pack. Quote
vsully Posted September 23, 2013 Author Report Posted September 23, 2013 (edited) Yeah... The C185F seems to be one of the most popular bush planes around... though I have some experience with the C188B. It's prone to skid off the runway on touchdown though I wouldn't call it exactly hard to taxi until you get moving fast...Yeah I'm willing to learn. I don't mean to offend anybody but I personally think that STMA is pretty low quality. Edited September 23, 2013 by vsully Quote

I still have fun flying them. Quote

There are lakes, fjords and glaciers to explore and for me the C185 suits it best. Classic feeling. Personally as an airplane I prefer the C208 Caravan for advanced bush flying but it requires a more solid landing strip than the others though it still works out well. And then the AS350 helicopter which does not require a strip at all which is my all time favorite bush equipment. Just park it near the float ramp on some free space. Who needs floats anyway? :-D Quote
ryma Posted May 27, 2014 Report Posted May 27, 2014 Sherpa K650T I would not recommend it. I don't like it.For me the worst aircraft of all bush planes. The plane is hard to land correctly and difficult to control.I regret the purchase. Quote
olexia Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 I like the Zenith CH750. Freeware, Pretty basic textures and 3d cockpit, but flies predictably with great short field performance. Excellent sound!Olexia Quote

olexia Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 (edited) Yes, this plane I have also discovered and I am very happy with it. But it is not a bush plane.I had heard of the CH750 originally as an STOL type bush plane, and its used widely for backcountry off-airport landings and takeoffs http://youtu.be/fb7-YOILIBQ Edited May 29, 2014 by olexia Quote
ryma Posted May 29, 2014 Report Posted May 29, 2014 Oh, forgiveness, I was wrong. A very beautiful plane. Quote
vsully Posted June 7, 2014 Author Report Posted June 7, 2014 Yeah the Ch750 is fun for buzzing highways... I have bought both the C185F and C208 and I think that I like the 185 best, the 208 is nice but on long flights I have to mute the computer… that turboprop drone gets really annoying. Quote
