That error usually means X-Plane is already running, or has failed to shut down completely. When you try to run the sim, it discovers that it cannot use the ports it is configured to use for networked flight etc, as the other process is already using them.

I'll take a guess, but for future reference please provide more info.

To fix this, have a look at the running processes list, if you are using windows and end any running X-Plane processes, or reboot the machine. I'm not sure how to fix this on other OS's.

If you're running windows it's most likely what Tonka pointed out.

I have experienced a few times that if x-plane crashes it doesn't kill all processes correctly. Go to task manager and kill x-plane and the pnkbuster.exe process (or something similar to that, can't remember the exact name).
