Big T Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Does such a thing exist in X-plane? All I really want to do is be able to program my hardware switches, knobs, axis attached to my (Leo Bonard) card so that they interface with the virtual cockpit controls of the aircraft I am using. I don’t like comparing FSX with X-plane but will in this case for the sake of clarity; what I am looking for is essentially something with the capabilities of FSUIPC. In XP10 I have looked at the following…XJoymapButton2Dataref (which is no longer supported) and the follow on FlyWithLuaThreads on Teensy hardwareand XPUIPC Unless I am missed something along the way, none of these support any sort of easy to understand and use GUI? With each program it seems the end user winds up using Dataref editor and then writing some form of code script. While some basic functions aren’t too complicated for me to understand, I’m not a programmer and the end result is usually frustration and I end up going back to controlling the aircraft with the mouse. What’s even more frustrating is even when I know the dataref being used to control a function I wish to program I still can’t seem to get it done. Is there any plug in available or that you might have used that is similar to FSUIPC with it’s mousetrap function that would make programming hardware in X-plane simple? Sorry if this post is not in the right place Admin. free to move it if you feel it belongs in under one of the other forum headers. Quote
JazAero Posted February 17, 2013 Report Posted February 17, 2013 I use one of those boards "BU0386X" to rewire my thrustmaster F-22 Pro and TQS joysticks and rudder pedals in order to convert them from joystick port to USB. I'm happy to report it worked flawlessly. Windows recognizes Leo's board as a joystick interface from there you can program it within X plane just like any other joystick. I also use the teensy boards because they have the ability to both be input and output interfaces. Through simple scripting it is possible to have the teensy board follow the data refs to drive home made steam gauges such as engine or altimeter etc. The input can be configured on both boards for momentaries, toggle switches or axis inputs.
