Donald Traill Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Hello; first off my system specs...AMD 6400+ dual core processorAsus M2N32-SLI Deluxe MotherboardEVGA 8800GT 512 vid card2 gigs RAMWindows XP Pro 32 bitI was struggling with 19 FPS for a while; then I went into my latest version of Nhancer and changed some settings. Even though my frame rate was locked at half my monitor refresh rate of 75; I was getting 50-80 frames a second. Then my frames tanked again. I noticed some of my Nhancer settings were different. I changed the ones I noticed back and gained frames; but I think other settings changed that I didn't notice. Right now I am getting about half the frame rate I was getting at my peak at the same airports with much reduced settings... not sure exactly what got messed up but I think it is Nhancer. I have attatched screens of my X-plane profile. Any advice?Donald Quote

This is under the Settings menu when in sim. Quote
Donald Traill Posted December 4, 2009 Author Report Posted December 4, 2009 My desktop resolution is 1440 X 900 32 Bit and X-plane res matches. I run full screen. Donald Traill Quote
Cameron Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Donald,I didn't particularly mean the resolution in size. I more or less meant the settings within the resolution screen of X-Plane that Nhancer should be taking over. I'm curious to know if the AA and Anisotropic settings, etc are correlating correctly to what you have set in Nhancer. Quote
Donald Traill Posted December 4, 2009 Author Report Posted December 4, 2009 Ummm... they didn't match when I was getting that phenomenal frame rate either. AA and such was turned off in game. I thought the whole point of Nhancer was to take the load off the app. But I will give synching them the old college try.Thanx for your efforts.Donald Traill Quote
Donald Traill Posted December 5, 2009 Author Report Posted December 5, 2009 Well that improved things a whole lot! I have been able to increase a lot of settings without frame rate loss now.Another thing I noticed is that in Nhancer; one of my global antialiasing settings did not match with my profile settings. I have corrected that. One last thing... It seems that in 9.4 final; the actual function of "lock frames at refresh rate" and "half refresh rate" seem to be reversed.Thanx!!! Donald Traill Quote

Donald TraillHi, Donald,I figured that was it. Glad it's better for you now. My experience with X-Plane is that graphic setting programs that are meant to take over the app do not do so when the app is really launched.Happy flying! Quote
Wynthorpe Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 Ive also found that Nhancer isnt needed for XP,I get great results using the Nvidia CP and the settings in XP itself. Quote
Donald Traill Posted December 5, 2009 Author Report Posted December 5, 2009 What is the story of "lock frames at half monitor refresh rate"? My monitor is 75 hertz and when I select that option I routinely get frames from 40 to above 60.Donald Traill Quote
Donald Traill Posted December 13, 2009 Author Report Posted December 13, 2009 I have been going up and down for a while; especially noticing fluctuations when I look down in the cockpit. The final mistake I was making is that I had "vertical synch" enabled in Nhancer and frame rates locked in X-plane. I changed the X-plane setting to "do not lock".Now I get a rock solid 37 FPS in just about any aircraft including the BK117. The most intense aircraft I have is the Falcon 7X for 9.31; that takes me down to 25 FPS in VFR conditions. In that aircraft my frame rate improves drastically in IFR conditions- Why can't Mr. Gates do that? and I have every weather option enabled; volumetric fog, cumulus, particle clouds etc...My frames are plentiful now and they are extremely consistent throughout a flight.Donald Traill Quote
Cameron Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 Hi, Donald,Thanks for the update! Glad to hear you've got yourself up and running like previously said. Quote
