chaps Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 For some reason I cannot get any of the flight controls to work on the DC-3. ALL other aircraft that I have tried work fine. They were working okay but no longer do. I uninstalled and reinstalled the complete DC-3 and still the same. I reset all system faults to normal and re-calibrated the joystick function but no improvement.Any suggestions would be appreciatedThanks
Goran_M Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 Seeing as they were originally working on your computer, but have now stopped, I'd say this is a system specific issue.Have you deleted any files in your x plane folder?Did you remove the Gizmo folder?Did you modify the DC-3 acf in any way? When you reinstalled, did you reinstall in the correct folder (X Plane ROOT folder. NOT the Aircraft folder) and the correct X Plane installation (X Plane 9 or X Plane 10)?
chaps Posted April 18, 2012 Author Report Posted April 18, 2012 Hi and thanksI didn't delete any files that I am aware of. I completely reinstalled the aircraft after deleting the original one that did work using the installer that came with it. It was installed in the xplane root folder. I am using XP10 on a MacPro. The aircraft comes up fine engines running and I can change liveries okay. Gizmo is running. I did reboot it from the tab on the right hand side but it didn't change anything. The strange thing is that I tried a few other aircraft and they all work fine. I have not reloaded XPlane yet but I'm guessing that's my next task.
chaps Posted April 18, 2012 Author Report Posted April 18, 2012 It's okay now. I started the sim again to see what was working and what wasn't and I noticed the elevator trim was all the way full up. ( At this point none of the controls worked ) so I tried to see if the trim was working and it was. so I trimmed it back to centre and now all the controls work i.e. ailerons, rudder and elevator. I'll go back to the sim and see if I can seize it again by having the elevator trim set to max up. I'll let you know. Thanks
chaps Posted April 18, 2012 Author Report Posted April 18, 2012 I checked the trim and could not repeat it, but I am suspecting it may have been a wrong function set to one of the buttons on my Saitek X52 controller. I changed a couple of suspect ones and it restarts okay now.Sorry for the bother but thanks for your time.Great plane BTW.A couple of suggestions now that i'm here.-Would it be possible to have both com frequencies actually work. Both at the same time would be great but maybe Xplane doesn't support that. Com 2 doesn't actually receive any audio. A selector switch to 'switch' between both would be nice.-Also, a selector to be able to tune in the audio channel on a NDB or VOR would also be a good feature to have. Thanks again
Goran_M Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 Happy to see you got it sorted.I'll look into the Com radios.I was actually asked about the audio selector from 1 other person. As far as I can tell from the doc's I have, the very old DC-3's didn't have an audio panel for the radios. I also can't find any photos of an old style audio panel for the nav radios. No promises, but I'll look into it some more and talk to Theo about adding it. It all depends on what I can find in the way of photos and if we can fit in the texture maps (The audio panel would have to be modeled, textured, panel regions added and then animated.)
