PropellerBC Posted September 20, 2023 Report Posted September 20, 2023 Hello, I'll start by saying that I love this plane and in the short time since the release it has become one of my favorites. I don't have any problems with it, except that whenever I fly this plane the ground textures become blurry in spite of low memory usage (around 3000 MB). I have a 6 GB RTX2060 and when I fly any other planes the ground texture stay crisp until about 5000 MB memory usage. This happens even when I remove all the plugins and custom sceneries. I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this, or is it something that's affecting only my system. Regards, Chip Log.txt Quote
Litjan Posted September 20, 2023 Report Posted September 20, 2023 Hi Chip, this certainly sounds like Vulkan reducing your texture resolution to keep total VRAM use below your threshold. One thing you can try it so reduce your "Texture Quality" level in X-Plane globally, this will make ALL texture slightly less sharp, but not just SOME very fuzzy. Another thing is running at high monitor resolution or even multi-monitor, this will also fill up your VRAM quickly. Did you look at the VRAM PROFILER in the developers menu of X-Plane? Quote
PropellerBC Posted September 20, 2023 Author Report Posted September 20, 2023 Hello Litjan, Thank you very much for the suggestions. The texture quality is at High, I'll try to reduce it a notch and see the result. I run the sim at 1920 x 1024, so not so high resolution anyway. The VRAM Profiler looks like this (the first few lines): Thank you, Chip Quote
Litjan Posted September 20, 2023 Report Posted September 20, 2023 Hmm, it surprises me that you are getting blurry textures at less than 3GB out of your total 6GB used! Maybe also try running at the highest texture setting and see if that helps? Does this only happen when running the IXEG? Or also with other aircraft? Quote
PropellerBC Posted September 20, 2023 Author Report Posted September 20, 2023 Hello Litjan, The problem only happens when I fly the IXEG aircraft. When I fly all the others, the ground textures remain crisp. Thank you, Chip Quote
Litjan Posted September 20, 2023 Report Posted September 20, 2023 Can you try do disable your simHeaven scenery just to test? You can add the _DISABLED into your scenery.ini file to disable them temporarily, like this: SCENERY_PACK_DISABLED Custom Scenery/X-Plane Airports - KBTV Burlington/ Quote
PropellerBC Posted September 20, 2023 Author Report Posted September 20, 2023 Hello Litjan, I have already run a test with SimHeaven completely removed from Custom Scenery plus all the plugins removed from X-Plane and the result was the same (blurry ground textures), so I added them back. It almost feels like part of the video memory is being reserved for something and not used, and since it's only 6 GB to start with, it has an impact on texture resolution much sooner than it should. Thank you, Chip Quote
Litjan Posted September 20, 2023 Report Posted September 20, 2023 Ok, thanks for testing everything so patiently! I will see what Tom will say, maybe there is something obvious that we can fix easily. Thanks again and I hope you can live with the blurries for now, Jan Quote
PropellerBC Posted September 20, 2023 Author Report Posted September 20, 2023 Thank you Litjan, No worries, thank you for looking into this. I'm still enjoying the plane regardless of the texture resolution. Regards, Chip 1 Quote
