X-Plane 11.55 quits when xPilot starts

Xplane 11.55
xPilot latest version

Once Xplane11 is loaded and running I start xPilot. Immediately Xplane warns that there is another version of Xplane running and it shuts down.

This is almost certainly because you are already running another copy of X-Plane on the same computer.
