casgr Posted January 17, 2022 Report Posted January 17, 2022 Hi guys, Was wondering if anyone has been trying some 1-INOP exercises, particularly engine failure after V1? My observations so far have been that rudder authority is marginal, i.e, even with full rudder deflection it is not possible to center ball (still 1/2 ball out at least). Furthermore, using the yaw trim doesn't seem to work either. In the end I have full rudder in, full yaw trim and the aircraft still has a substantial sideslip angle. Has anyone else noticed this? dlrk Posted January 17, 2022 Report Posted January 17, 2022 I tried a V1 engine failure and it seemed pretty easy to handle Quote
casgr Posted January 17, 2022 Author Report Posted January 17, 2022 I'm not talking necessarily that it is hard to handle at V1, what I'm saying is that all aircraft I've flown you can trim the rudder(usually close to max rudder trim) to relieve the pressure on the rudder pedal so that you can take your feet off the pedals. Once you have done that you can engage the autopilot. The rudder trim at the moment doesn't seem to have enough authority sub 200kts-ish to do this. Quote
