He who is not welcome! Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Hi all,I'm new to X-Plane, but not to flight sims; I recently made the move from MSFS to X-Plane, after 20+ years of simming. For me it was about; FSX taking 14-17 mins to load and be ready to fly, versus X-Plane taking 24 seconds! ...also things like the native ability for FL CH and SPEED (pitch) modes in the APs, flight realism, but more than anything, the eventual arrival of some of the high level payware aircraft that we're starting to see.I have a question, I was hoping the experienced X-Planers could help with;Is there a relatively easy way I can get some 3D objects (primarily building) into some of the larger airports? ...... I'm thinking something like the "EZ Scenery" approach (for FSX), where standard library objects can be placed individually into the sim, where required.I would be eternally grateful if anyone could tell me if this is possible, what add-ons would be required (payware or freeware), and (pushing my luck!), some links to these if possible. Thanks so much in advance!David R Quote

MdMax Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Hi David !When I was using FS2004, I also bought EZ-Scenery. A very easy tool. In X-Plane, you can use these tutorials:http://wiki.x-plane.com/Airport_Creationhttp://wiki.x-plane.com/Airport_CustomizationHappy building ! Quote
UH-60 Blackhawk Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 The equivalent of EZ Scenery from what I understand here is OpenSceneryX. It has some 5k+ objects. Overlay editor is how you place them, quite easy to use once you get the keyboard shortcuts. Quote
He who is not welcome! Posted June 16, 2011 Author Report Posted June 16, 2011 Thanks guys, I'll look into all of your suggestions. Cheers,David. Quote
He who is not welcome! Posted June 19, 2011 Author Report Posted June 19, 2011 Hi all,I tried 'FS2Xplane' scenery converter but it didn't work too well on the scenery I chose. (Perhaps I was choosing bad examples).Anyway, I found exactly what I was looking for! ;I downloaded OpenSceneryX and the 'OverlayEditor' and this is working fantastically for what I wanted; placing objects in some airports to make them a little more 3-dimensional. UH-60 Blackhawk Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 Just remembered, FS9 sceneries convert much better than FSX sceneries as far as objects go. Quote
