D0tMat Posted April 21, 2021 Report Posted April 21, 2021 Hi Team, I'm wondering if you can help with setting up the Cirrus in xplane 11. When I load the aircraft with everything switched off, I can never get it to actually start. I follow all the checklists but when I get to ignition it just never gets beyond 50rpm. When I load the aircraft with the engines already running, it loads and within 30 seconds it immediately stops. Is there some kind of log line or diagnostics I can look at to see what's causing the shutdown? Thanks Mathew Quote
Coop Posted April 21, 2021 Report Posted April 21, 2021 In order to debug what is going on, we will need you to send us a copy of the X-Plane log.txt file. You can find a guide to get this file here: How to find the X-Plane log.txt file? Quote
D0tMat Posted April 22, 2021 Author Report Posted April 22, 2021 Hi Coop, Thanks for your help, see attached file. I started from a dead engine, attempted to start. Then restarted with engine running and watched it stop within 10 seconds. Thanks for your help Log.txt Quote
Coop Posted April 22, 2021 Report Posted April 22, 2021 I'm not seeing anything in the log file, you can try deleting the NA_Record/State files in X-Plane 11/Output/SR22. Additionally, make sure that your throttle is set to idle when you are loading in with the engine set to load on - if it isn't at idle, the instantaneous change can break the engine. Quote
D0tMat Posted April 22, 2021 Author Report Posted April 22, 2021 Hi Coop, Thanks for the help. Deleted the NA_Record/State files, reloaded xplane and same issue. I'm using a HoneyComb Yoke and saitek throttle, could it be one of the switches is causing the issue? Thanks Quote

Thanks It shouldn't be, assuming the ignition key is set to both at starting, as well as mixture rich. You can try loading without those hooked up to see if something is causing the issue there. D0tMat Posted April 22, 2021 Author Report Posted April 22, 2021 Unplugged the HoneyComb Yoke and saitek throttle, no change. Then found an error: "XPUIPC Wrong IP address" So after editing XPUIPC.ini - the IP address did not match the PC's address; 1. Starting a flight with the engine running, does not kill the engine. 2. Unable to start the engine from cold. Can't crank over 70rpm with keys in and all checklists completed. Then reattached HoneyComb Yoke and saitek throttle; 3. Starting a flight with the engine running, does not kill the engine. 4. Unable to start the engine from cold. Can't crank over 70rpm with keys in and all checklists completed. Quote
Coop Posted April 22, 2021 Report Posted April 22, 2021 Ok, glad to hear the engine stays running now when starting with that selected. Regarding starting the engine, you need to be very precise with the starting technique. Make sure you boost for ~2 seconds. Do not boost for more than 3 seconds, as that can lead to flooding the engine. When you crank the throttle, make sure that it is at 1/4" open, based on the in-sim model. This typically translates to a smaller amount on most other throttles, I am not sure with the Honeycomb. If it isn't cranking over, widening and closing the throttle is a good step to take until it cranks, it can take a few (or many) seconds to turn over sometimes. Quote
D0tMat Posted April 26, 2021 Author Report Posted April 26, 2021 Hey Coop, Thanks for all your help here, can confirm the issue is with the pilot. After spending some time playing with throttle, mixture and cranking was able to get it to start from cold. Thanks for your help. Quote
