JT1 Posted April 1, 2021 Report Posted April 1, 2021 Installed the AFM Garmin G5. Started flight with the Cessna 172 G5. G5s are on the panel but dark. Gizmo popup asked for email and login to activate license. Entered credentials and pressed activate. Pop-up returns in a few seconds again. Seems to fail to activate. Log.txt From log file, looks like an issue saving the license file. Any ideas how to correct this issue would be appreciated. 0:01:01.567 G64: debug: GK: update_license() 0:01:03.131 G64: debug: GK: RX license data from server. 0:01:03.132 G64: debug: Toast Message:(type:error) (X-Aviation Licensing) / (Could not save license data.) 0:01:03.185 G64: core: Run: [OnBeforeReboot] 0:01:03.185 G64: debug: --- -- --- -- --- -- --- -- --- -- Firmware Reboot -- --- -- --- -- --- -- --- -- --- -- --- 0:01:03.187 G64: core: curl_easy_init() provided by:[C:\Program Files\X-Plane 11\Resources\plugins\Gizmo64.plugin\win_x64\libcurl.dll] 0:01:03.187 G64: core: Boot Count: 3 0:01:03.187 G64: core: OpenAL: Shared OpenAL context.. 0:01:03.188 G64: debug: Firmware v21.03.20.0220 0:01:03.198 G64: debug: gxt: AutoLoading.. 0:01:03.198 G64: debug: gxt.load: Console 0:01:03.198 G64: debug: gxt.load: ToolTray 0:01:03.199 G64: debug: gxt.load: Mute 0:01:03.199 G64: debug: gxt.load: Preferences 0:01:03.199 G64: debug: gxt.load: RebootButton 0:01:03.200 G64: debug: gxt.load: GateKeeper 0:01:03.201 G64: debug: GK: Load license from disk.. 0:01:03.201 G64: debug: GK: 404: license database 0:01:03.201 G64: debug: GK: Empty license file. Defaulting to login page. You need to move xplane out of the "program files" folder. This folder is protected by Windows. Do not simply run as administrator. Quote
JT1 Posted April 1, 2021 Author Report Posted April 1, 2021 Thanks for the quick replay. What X-plane subdirectory is the licensee file currently stored in? The Program Files folder is a default folder for program installation. I would assume this would be a very common problem. Is there any effort to move the license file to another directory that is not protected? Quote

Is there any effort to move the license file to another directory that is not protected? This is not optional advice. Failure to move X-Plane to another folder will result in long list of continuing problems where config files for various items cannot be saved correctly or are continually zapped back to defaults. X-Plane is a triple platform(Mac/Win/Lin) title and the existing trend is that all config data is stored within the X-Plane folder for all products from all makers. The upside is that each X-Plane folder is almost entirely self contained. The downside is that X-Plane doesn't like being in system owned folders on Windows. Thanks. Quote
