My upgrade is already 2 months old.  :-[

C2D E8400 3.0GHz @3.6GH

2x2GB DDR2 1066MHz CL9

Zotac GTX260 AMP! (216)

SB i5-2500k 3.3GHz @ 4.5GHz

4x2GB DDR3 1333MHz CL7

MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr II OC @ 850MHz/2100MHz/1.05V

But X-Plane doesn't care about that. Same FPS, still low autogen objects.

Hopefully XP10 comes out soon.

Nova, I suspect your CPU is the bottleneck, I'll tell u my improvements, if any, after ep. 2! Ive heard that xplane is more cpu intensive, exactly why i got an i7 2 yrs ago and still love it. I had a gtx275, still have it sitting in my kitchen, so sad..I might hook it up to my SNES.

How fast is your CPU? I'm at 2.8 GHz.

How can a QuadCore at 4.5GHz and a boost up to 4.8GHz on a single core be the bottleneck?  :D

I do not have the equipment here to get it to work on 5.6GHz :( Would need either watercooling or dry ice.  :o  :D

But i'm pretty optimistic, that i can have a good amout of objects with XP10.

The bigger problem is VRAM. 1280MB is just way not enough. Any game i have, can't even break the 800MB barrier on max, but XP9 uses everything even with compression, and planes like the Dash are unusable with HighRez textures.

Next time i'll buy a card with 3GB VRAM or more, although they are slower than those with less VRAM.

Should probably wait until XP10 comes out to do any of this. As of now, we don't know what the bottleneck will be with the next version. Ben's said it may actually be the PCI bus, which isn't really upgradable.

Perry, my CPU is 2.66 stock and I push it to 3.6 ish, but it's not just clock speed that determines performance.

I didn't just upgrade for Xp, as Perry knows. Learnt how to cold start the hog yet eh??
