jeffrds Posted May 14, 2020 Report Posted May 14, 2020 Hello @Litjan and Forum. I've recorded a small video that better explains how the lights are behavingon my simulator. Cheers Quote
Litjan Posted May 14, 2020 Report Posted May 14, 2020 Thats totally odd. I have never seen that before. Do you have HDR on? It is also possible that something went wrong with your installation and it is not displaying the _lit_ textures... No idea what could be causing that... Sorry, Jan Quote
Litjan Posted May 14, 2020 Report Posted May 14, 2020 Did you ever run any add-ons that alter the lighting/artwork/colour properties of X-Plane? Like Reshade, SilverLining, etc? Quote
Benweston Posted May 15, 2020 Report Posted May 15, 2020 I'm seeing exactly the same. The light is there but it's dim and you don't get the nice animated bulb flicker as it lights up. This is after updating to the latest beta and also applying the patch to fix the brake steering issue. I did both at the same time so not sure which one might have broken it. I opened up the IXEG in planemaker - did I read something about a certain version of planemaker breaks it? Quote
Litjan Posted May 15, 2020 Report Posted May 15, 2020 Yes, there is a certain connection between applying the "brake steering fix" and cockpit lighting because you have to save the .acf with the new planemaker version. Our next patch (1.3) will fix that - it isn´t far out! Cheers, Jan Quote
jeffrds Posted May 15, 2020 Author Report Posted May 15, 2020 (edited) I can confirm the same, @Benweston @Litjan, If I don't change anything in the original ACF for the 'brake steering fix', the fluorescent flood light works normally. If I edit the acf in planemaker (I believe mine is version 11.41) to fix the steering and ONLY that, nothing else, when I try the background fluorescent light, it doesn't work anymore. I can replicate the process everytime. If I return the original ACF, without the brake fix, the fluorescent light works normally, really weird. Shall wait for the next version, lets hope it fixes things. Cheers. Edited May 15, 2020 by jeffrds Typo Quote

Have to admit now Vulkan is here I'm really enjoying this baby again, what a superbly immersive aircraft it is. Quote
Litjan Posted May 16, 2020 Report Posted May 16, 2020 Hi Jeff, yes, that problem has been known as long as the "workaround fix" for the braking issue has been found. It was new to me that other parts of the lighting don´t work, either. The whole thing came down when Laminar "fixed" or rather "tightened" some of their code which in turn exposed two authoring errors we made when initially making this aircraft. One was assigning a (wrong) spring constant to a wheel and the second was an authoring error pertaining to the light code. The first one could be fixed in planemaker, but saving your fix would enforce the new code onto the lighting - which would break that. So it is either or. We have fixed that problem for the next patch. I never quite understood why people with a "twisty" joystick are also affected, I always thought that that axis counts as a yaw axis as much as real rudder pedals do. Cheers, Jan Quote
