VirtualAviator Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 I purchased Skymaxx, FSGRW (FS Global Real Weather), and the Real Weather Connector at the same time. Now I'm questioning the wisdom of buying all 3 products. It seems to me that FSGRW is completely unneeded as Skymaxx can pull metars directly without having to have the weather injector software (FSGWR) [see uploaded image]. Can anyone tell me why I might need FSGRW? Is there some added benefit other than being able to see a text metar for any airport on demand or being able to import historical weather data? X-plane allows one to customize any weather pattern including historical data as long as the weather parameters are known. Is there any real use to FSGRW that I am yet to discover? ' Quote
Cameron Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 Directly from the FSGRW product page: Quote NEW SkyMaxx Pro Integration!: The FS Global Real Weather engine is now able to process a wide variety of cloud identifiers, such as Cirrus, Cumulus, Stratus, Cumulonimbus and Towering Cumulus. Cirrocumulus, Nimbostratus and Stratocumulus depiction in X-Plane 11 is planned for the near future. This detailed, cloud specific information is passed onto Real Weather Connector, allowing SkyMaxx Pro v4 cloud types and their corresponding cloud textures in X-Plane 11 to be correctly interpreted and drawn for different altitude levels, while at the same time FS Global Real Weather injects real-time wind data into X-Plane 11. This adds a highly sophisticated level of realism to the X-Plane 11 world, and greatly enhances the immersive environment for both low-level GA flyers and high-altitude airline pilots. In short, yes, you are gaining quite a bit more by having FSGRW present! Quote
VirtualAviator Posted May 14, 2020 Author Report Posted May 14, 2020 So the answer is yes. There are benefits to FSGRW that's not available from the Real World Connector. Now I know to set up my injector and change my settings to the injector. Thanks. Quote
