cessna_man Posted May 3, 2020 Report Posted May 3, 2020 (edited) Hi all, I was flying at my cruise alt. and I noticed that with a 26kt headwind I had a 207kt Ias and a GS of 257 kts. flying with a headwind I shouldn't have GS faster than IAS. Edited May 3, 2020 by cessna_man
okidokki Posted May 3, 2020 Report Posted May 3, 2020 Hi cessna_man, this actually seems to be correct. I did a quick check on my trusted old calculator: assuming a OAT of -20°C (unluckily it's not showing on the screenshot) it shows TAS of ~275kt at an IAS of 207 Don't forget that at higher altitudes there is quite a significant difference between IAS and TAS. Cheers
cessna_man Posted May 4, 2020 Author Report Posted May 4, 2020 Hi okidokki, Thanks for the reply. I forgot about TAS altitude, ect. Makes sense. Thanks again
