jurick Posted March 4, 2020 Report Posted March 4, 2020 Please can anyone tell me what I may be doing wrong? I purchased the Douglas DC-3 a few days ago and, in beginning to test it out today, I have tried using the Sperry Autopilot. In doing so, I have been unable to use the adjustable compass. Using the adjustment knob, I can change the heading on the upper disc (5) but not the lower disc (6). Thank in advance for any advice that can be given.
Goran_M Posted March 5, 2020 Report Posted March 5, 2020 It's been a while, so I may be wrong. The lower disc is a directional Gyro. It cannot be adjusted. You are supposed to adjust the adjustable heading disc to the heading you want to fly towards, then turn the aircraft so the non adjustable DG lines up with the one you adjusted. Then enable heading autopilot. It'll hold that heading now.
