clr100 Posted January 11, 2020 Report Posted January 11, 2020 I could have sworn that I was seeing the TAS at the bottom of the airspeed tape but am now seeing the Mach number. Did that just recently get changed in one of the recent updates? I looked over the updates but didn't find the change mentioned anywhere. I did check the actual G1000 manual and saw that TAS is displayed on the TBM 850 while mach number is displayed on the TBM 900 in the actual aircraft. So I am assuming for accuracy the change was made. I actually found TAS more useful than Mach number, not that it is a big deal. Now I will just need to do the conversion if I want to know the TAS. Jf17 Posted January 11, 2020 Report Posted January 11, 2020 The G1000 automatically changes to mach when the aircraft goes beyond 255 knots TAS. I am not quite sure about the specific speed number but it must be something around 255 knots. Quote
RobW05 Posted January 11, 2020 Report Posted January 11, 2020 The display changes from TAS to Mach automatically when you reach Mach 0.4 That's how it works also in the real G1000. Quote
clr100 Posted January 12, 2020 Author Report Posted January 12, 2020 Ah...okay thanks. I do seem to remember seeing it at slightly higher than mach .4 when I last checked. Guess I haven't gotten up to mach .4 frequently in the past. Quote
