I think you're worried about draw distances so I did some tests. The results depend on settings but it can look like this (draw distance 10.000) with the procedural overcast clouds:

I used the X-Plane weather preset 'Overcast' for this. 'Broken looks like this with the same settings (and I expect non procedural overcast behaving the same way):

With maximum draw distance (and a heavy performance impact) it can look like this:
