This is for anyone who has been experiencing "crash to desktop" issues in the TBM.

I was getting CTDs when I started X-plane in the TBM at certain airports as soon as I turned the power on (eg. KBOS). At other airports, X-plane would CTD if I entered a destination airport into the flight plan (eg. at KAUG, entering KCON).

This didn't start for me until the TBM 1.1.1 update. Coincidentally, though, I also upgraded my AIRAC (Navigraph) and FAA CIFP at the same time.

As it turns out, everything works fine for me if I remove the FAA CIFP file (FAACIFP18) from the "Custom Data" folder. This doesn't just apply to the Hot Start TBM 900, but to any aircraft that uses Laminar's G1000 (including the stock C172 G1000). I thought this was a Hot Start TBM issue because that's the only G1000 plane I fly currently.

The combination that reliably CTDs my X-Plane:

  • X-Plane 11.26r2
  • Navigraph data cycle 1812 (r1)
  • CIFP_181108
  • A plane with LR's G1000
  • KBOS ramp "General Aviation" with power and avionics on

Maybe this will help someone, or maybe this only happens on my system with my combination of plugins. In any case, it's something else to consider.

This answers a few questions.  I was talking with Saso about this, and he was confident it was not the TBM, but something on Laminars end, causing the CTD's.

Many thanks for this!
