BobFam Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 I am trying to use WED to make an Area 51 airport. I have an overlay in png form. I can import it into WED but when I try to input the coordinates of the four corners the image gets all skewed and finally ends up as a line when I input the second set of coordinates. I cannot figure out how to input all of the coordinates. I followed the manual and entered the points as P1, P2, etc. When I click on the corners of the image there are latitude and longitude already in the box that I am inputting the coordinates. I just overwrote the coordinates. Is there something I am doing wrong or something missing in what I have done? Thanks for any help. Regards, Bob. Quote
BobFam Posted January 15, 2011 Author Report Posted January 15, 2011 Is there any Help or Tutorial files later than the Scribus 1.3.3.9 WED117.tmpWEDManual.pdf file? That file is lacking in a lot of details and seems outdated. It is a good start. I see an entry of Preferences in the WED File Menu that is not even mentioned in the PDF. Also there are right facing solid arrows and up facing solid arrows that don't show in the PDF. I finally got all of the corners coordinates inputted by using CTRL and a left mouse click on all of the corners. This trick is not mentioned either. I am stuck trying to create the airport with runways, etc. If any kind soul that knows WED could contact me via PM I'd sure appreciate it. Best regards, Bob. Quote
RealScenery Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Hi Bob,Glad to see you got your image registered. I wrote a WED tutorial posted here. You can glance through that and see if it helps. I have hand edited nearly 400+ airports for the upcoming release of the Northern California scenery package so they all match the underlying imagery - same for Oahu and Reno scenery packages. I can PM you and discuss or we can keep it here for others to learn as well.Eric Quote
Simmo W Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Hi Bob, sounds like you're having fun wading through all the scenery support. It takes a bit of fiddling and practice before it all sinks in, hardly intuitive or straight forward, but if I can understand it, anyone can. This is a good excuse for me to finally issue this instructional that I've been planning to post to our blog & everywhere, after my own struggles, so here goes. Further suggestions and improvements welcome, especially for the supposed 'coding' using DSFs that I just couldn't get perfect! I got it working, but still had to stretch the image to an extent. So I just got off my tush and did a new post at our Blog Quote
