Goofy Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Hello All, What is the purpose of this two-position command (pushed or pulled) on the left side panel ? Any news of the 1.4 version ? Jean-Pierre 1 Quote
baudrate43 Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Pretty sure it's for steering while on the ground. Bill Quote
Goofy Posted January 10, 2017 Author Report Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) Hi Bill, Thank's for your answer, but this command lever don't turn, there is only two states : pushed or pulled (as the oxygen command lever). For steering we need a turning command... Edited January 10, 2017 by Goofy Quote
baudrate43 Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Bonjour Jean Pierre To the best of my knowledge it is not functional. I kind of remember watching a utube video of real time pilot on the taxi strip. He used the knob in a twisting motion for steering, at least that's what I thought he was doing. Bill Quote
baudrate43 Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Jean-Pierre Check this you tube video out. Check it at 4 minutes on landing and 5 minutes 8 seconds while backing up with reverse thrusters. Bill Quote
Goran_M Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 It is indeed the steering tiller. It is not implemented in V1.3 of the Saab. We were going to make it control the steering, but what's the point of looking down at it, using the manipulator to steer it, and not being able to see where you're going. You would be steering blind. (You cannot look up and use a manipulator, that is out of your line of sight, at the same time.) We're looking at options to implementing it somehow in the V2.0 upgrade, but nothing definite yet. We're only in the "ideas" stage at this time. Quote
Goofy Posted January 10, 2017 Author Report Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) Hello Bill and Goran_M Thank you for your information. OK, it's clear to me now : This is a command for steering the aircraft on the ground. This command is not yet functional in version 1.3, but it may be later... In a popup windows when we click on this steering manipulator ?... In this case we can see the steering manipulator and at the same time the normal view of the cockpit, with sight on the outside in front of the SAAB 340A.
