Saab 340 freighter question

Can you open the main  (not the cargo) door from the outside?  I see a hand showing up on the handle but I cannot seem to find the correct drag to get it to unlatch (the cargo door works fine).  Once open, how do I lower the air-stairs?  It works fine on the passenger version for me from inside but I don't see a clickspot in the freighter.

It should operate in the exact same way as the passenger variant.  Nothing was changed in the manipulators or the animation between variants.
I can test later today when I get back in front of my computer.
