FMC will not go into descend mode at TofD

Hello all,

The plane fly's normally through top of clime at which time it changes to cruise mod, but when going through the top of descent (TofD) the plane descends as expected but the FMC mode changes from cruise to climb mode, shouldn't it change to descent mode?

This happens all the time, don't know if this is pilot error or a bug.

Hi John, are you talking about the TMA (Thrust Mode Annunciator)? It announces the maximum currently available thrust (not the FMS flight mode) - so while the plane is not at the same altitude as the MCP ALT (even during descent) it will show CLB.
