sonny1 Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 I have created and saved a flight plan of 5 airports, and saved it. I cannot load it. LOAD in Ready Pad opens the x-plane Open FMS Plans window, and my flight plan is there. I select it and click open, the Load window closes, but there is no flight plan in the Active Flight Plan Window.I'm sure that I'm missing a step. Thanks,SonnyMac Pro 10.6.4x-plane 9.61 RC2 Quote

(The PFD AFP window does not currently display the flight plan)Jim Quote
sonny1 Posted October 2, 2010 Author Report Posted October 2, 2010 Yes, Jim. I am viewing the AFP on the MFD. I have enclosed 2 small images. When I select the previously saved Flight Plan in x-plane, and hit Open, there are no waypoints in the AFP window. (The "EMPTY" Flight Plan that you see in x-plane was just an additional test FP to see if there is any difference when I saved a plan with no waypoints.)***Is there anything further that I should do in the MFD to see my Saved>Loaded FP, after choosing it in the FMS box in x-plane?I am on a Mac Pro 10.6.4 with x-plane 9.61 RC2Thanks for your help. I must say that the plane is great, and especially thank you for the fabulous documentation. Being a novice, the learning curve is huge (x-plane manual, forums, Google, etc). Your POH and Tutorial accelerate the learning greatly, and make it fun. I really appreciate your efforts.Sonny Quote

sonny1 Posted October 2, 2010 Author Report Posted October 2, 2010 Jim,I think that we are making some progress. I found the files, copied one (with the subscript), and opened it in TextEdit. I deleted the useless info without names, and now it loads fine. How did all those extra lines get in there? I think that I'm creating the waypoints properly.Looks as if I have to strip the .fms suffix. Will try again to send the files. Oops. Will add .txt, and try again. Hope that it gets through this time.SonnyTwinCities.txtTwinCities_1.txt Quote
sonny1 Posted October 2, 2010 Author Report Posted October 2, 2010 Jim,I think that I got it. I had previously followed the original POH steps and kept wiping out Waypoints by going back to Step 4.After figuring out that something was wrong (insanity is repeating the same thing over and over, hoping for a different result), I found your amended "....proper procedure to..." Felt good. Still didn't work, as I followed that exactly (over and over again).I think that the solution is to add the original Step 5 (Direct TO) to the final "proper procedure", and it seems to work.Is this correct?I guess that the way to delete (not edit) existing flight plans is to do it via the Finder?Sonny Quote

I will correct this asap and post it on the Corvalis Page at X-Aviation. The "proper procedure" that was posted at X-Pilot was a "quick-fix" that we put out right after the aircraft was released and was also incorrect so I have just updated it.As to the files you sent me...The extra lines with all the zeros (at the end of the file after the entered waypoints) are normal. I believe the problem with your original file is that the first waypoint (before KSGS) is also all zeros, which obviously would not work.In any event the proper steps are as follows...CREATING AN ACTIVE FLIGHT PLAN:1. Press the FPL Key on the MFD.2. If you are in 2D Mode – Press the Ready Pad button in the upper right corner of the Active Flight Plan Page to "pop-up" the ReadyPad.3. Press the INIT Key on the ReadyPad.4. Press the DIRECT TO (D>) Key on the ReadyPad.5. The currently selected waypoint will be highlighted in the Active Flight Plan Page. (NOTE: Use the SEL Key to change the selected waypoint if necessary.)6. Turn the small FMS Knob to the right to display the Waypoint Information Window:7. Press one of the five "Type"" keys on the ReadyPad to indicate the type of waypoint you want to enter; APT, VOR, L/L, FIX, or NDB:8. Using the ReadyPad alphanumeric keypad, enter the identifier of the waypoint – when you have completed the entry, the name of the waypoint, its type, and its location information will display. 9. Once you have entered the correct waypoint, press and "hold" the ENT Key on the ReadyPad until the waypoint is accepted.10. The Waypoint Information Window will close and the waypoint ID will appear in the appropriate field of the Active Flight Plan Page.11. To enter the next waypoint press the (right arrow) of the SEL Key on the ReadyPad to advance the FMS to the next waypoint and then repeat steps 6 through 10.Sorry for the confusionI hope you enjoy the aircraft.Regards,Jim Quote
sonny1 Posted October 5, 2010 Author Report Posted October 5, 2010 Thanks for hanging in with me, Jim. Yes, I am really enjoying the aircraft, and the wonderful documentationSonny Quote
rddaos Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 I had an issue as well with flight plans not loading. I never figured out what the problem was, but I assumed it was because I used parenthenses in the name. You see, I created a flight plan for KJFK to KDTW and saved it as ....KJFK (new york) to KDTW (detroit), but couldnt load it - but then I created another KJFK to KDTW plan and saved it as KJFK to KDTW and was able to load it. The flight plan file without the parenthenses is the only one I use now Quote
rddaos Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 By the way, am I the only one who's flight plan is wiped out when I save the situation and close x plane? After quitting x plane and returning to it, the FMS is empty. I then have to go reload the flight plan and scroll through waypoints to direct to the appropriate waypoint. And in lieu of that, I can pause the simulation - except this causes a different and even more severe issue - after pausing the sim overnight, and coming back to it - the frame rate is totally destroyed and the simulation is barely limping along on its last legs with full fog. Anyone else ever seen this issue? Quote
