Zain Posted May 21, 2016 Report Posted May 21, 2016 Hello, Just updated with the latest hot fix and although it says that there were fixes to the sound engine, I have actually lost some of the sounds I had before. 1. The only switches that make sounds when they are switched are fuel tanks and landing lights... All other switches have no sounds. i.e. anti ice/pitot/external lights/autobrake etc. (I have seen videos of other people that had sounds turning on the anti ice and pitot heat for example.. I don't have that). 2. Engine startup. I had pretty fantastic engine startup sounds in 1.0.3 but with the latest update the engine sounds only really kick in once the engine is in idle after start up. 3. Engine spool up. Engine spool up sound does not seem to be working as it was very well before the update. On take off for example, the initial spool up is heard, but then the engines are almost silent until they hit the takeoff setting at which case there is that loud roaring/ringing sound. Hope that is helpful!. Cheers, Zain Quote
Litjan Posted May 22, 2016 Report Posted May 22, 2016 Hello Zain, to troubleshoot your problem, can you tell us what kind of soundchip your computer is using? Thanks, Jan Quote

Litjan Posted May 22, 2016 Report Posted May 22, 2016 Thanks, I will put this to the hardware guys... This sound thing is really elusive, and it seems that one fix is working for some people, but making it worse for others... We will just need to keep working on it. The problem is usually that too many background programs are running that also use the soundcard - blocking it´s resources. Jan Quote

I guess with this it is not so much of a BUG as it is more of a suggestion. I turned up "Master Sounds Volume" in the preferences menu almost full, and I was able to get the click sounds of the switches and various selectors. I feel as though perhaps those sounds should be linked to the "Cockpit Sound" volume instead as that way I don't have to have the Master on full in order to hear them as it interferes with hearing ATC when flying online. Let me know if that helps! Take care. Quote
XPlanePort Posted June 10, 2016 Report Posted June 10, 2016 On my Mac laptop with Intel High Definition Audio (just like one above in the screenshot), when I first load the 737 and start to prepare for my flight, I can hear all the switch sounds (window heat, pitot static heat, autobrake, external lights (the landing lights are ok all the time!), marker, WX radar, maybe some more). After takeoff, more sounds are being introduced into the mix (wind, engines, trim…). At first, I was thinking that I just can’t hear switch sounds with all the additional noise, but I can clearly hear all the sounds on my home desktop. Alter landing, I can hear all the switch sounds again. So, I am trying to find out if there is Intel High Definition Audio driver (not from apple updates), that can be installed (I found some drivers, but they are for older Mac books). I am hoping, if there are stand-alone drivers and the Intel High Definition Audio on Macs can handle all the IXEG sounds at once, the problem can be fixed. Or, if there are no stand-alone drivers (that potentially can fix this), and the Intel High Definition Audio can handle all the IXEG sounds at once, but there are something on Mac that uses some of the sound card resources, does anyone know what background processes (I have all the apps off when using X-Plane) can be using the audio resources, so I can try to shut them down and try? P.S. Not related to the sound problems: I was able to fix my hard crashes by installing NVidia Web Drivers. The sim was crashing almost every flight for me with all the latest apple updates. Installed NVidia Web Drivers and have been crash free for over a week now (flying multiple times per day). 1 Quote
