Please post some links to these write ups as it says on the actual X-plane website that "X-Plane will take advantage of as many cores or distinct processors as you can afford. Having 16 cores split among 4 CPUs is not required by any means, but Version 10 would be able to use every one." this is due to the fact that war thunder never renders more then a few miles into the distance well X-plane can render 100 miles into the distance well have scenery loaded well past that so that you never see it loading more and that the planes themselves are much lower res then what we have in X-plane take a look at war thunder's B-24 to see what I mean as far as the DCS A-10 Sim goes I've never used it so I can't comment on that Also I Would recommend a intel core i5 for xp10 unless your planning on running 20 747's all the time as my i3 can easily take on 20 Ai planes with minimal performance impact

Didn't know that i just judged by the fact they rendered just fine but thanks for telling me that

All I was trying to say there was that you only need 64 polygons to make a smooth cylinder and it looked like you were using 128 also if you load up everything on the B-29 right now it adds up to be around 1,250,100 polygons including old un-polygon optimized areas and things i need to delete as well as the fact that some things have subdivision surfaces that are not applied yet so i can easily control that number to make it lower or higher Also if memory serves me right It would be pretty impressive if you managed to make the entire interior of a md-80 with 450,000 poly's I would also like to point out that there may be a typo in that post i had to assume that the "not I" was supposed to be "now I" or "I do not" as otherwise the sentence made no sense
-
yes they do fix that problem
-
By the way i forgot to mention one more thing if you hit p in edit mode and have more then one vertice selected you can actually make a seperate mesh out of it this is helpful when you need one area to be high res but don't want the entire model to be high res.
-
you should probably use Blender to texture stuff as blender lacks a little thing called a render engine for texture baking simply put also textures are much easier to move around in blender then in sketchup in fact you can even edit and save the .png's in blender and watch the effect on the model in real time here is a comparison of skecthup and blenders render engines Sketchup render engine Blender render engine Need i say more?
-
you should probably remember to also use the subdivision surface modifier (don't know if you can use it in 2.46) as it can easily increase a low poly mesh into a high poly smooth mesh as long as you make the original mesh correctly also here is the source for the citation model i made a few weeks ago just to give some almost complete parts to speed up the exterior dev also the problem you described in your previous post is probably caused by the plane you are applying it to being flat go into edit mode select the planes you see the issue on and then select flat to make just those faces flat hopefully fixing the problem citation_source.zip

Yes, if i hadn"t the fans would'nt spin and the computer would have booted as if the card didn't exist in fact during troubleshooting i just unplugged one of the power cables from the card when i needed to check something with windows.
-
Ok, needless to say but my new 7970 will not post, in fact my motherboard won't even beep at me to tell me what's wrong. (yes i enabled it in the bios) However the fans spin and my power supply is cabable of running this card. (i have a 650wt min is 550wt) Also i have already rma'd my first card and when i put a 550TI or 560 the system works fine

here are some pictures of the radio operators station

I do not have an ETA yet.
-
yes, but I somehow missed those links
-
Redid the nose section (again) finally made it one mesh this time (well sort of) unfortunately it's a bit high on the poly side. Here's a pictures showing a wireframe view nice render zoomed out version Also, LA do you happen to have pictures of the interior of the B-29? As I need more for the areas behind the engineers panel and in front of the pilot/copilot stations.
-
Try using a loop cut (CTRL+r) to split it horizontally.
-
My BEST render to date. NOTE:lights added for effect and do not exist in real B-29

First i never said a 650ti was faster then a 560 i said they were very close also a 560 goes for about $100 USED on EBAY which means it might not even work (and may break within a very short period of time) and will most likely not have a warranty (unless it's from PNY as they have a lifetime warranty on their 560) a 560ti cost $120 brand new with a full warranty also it uses much less power than a 560 which makes it cheaper over time and a 560TI would probably cost more (or about the same) as a 650ti boost not to mention currently the 600 series comes with $100 in game credits (150 for 660+) which can be sold for probably $75 on ebay therefore making a 650ti cost only $45 brand new

I find it amazing that a small war hasn't started in this thread in the year that it's existed. That said i'm both an amd and nvidia user so as long as the card works well,is fast, and well priced i don't care who makes it Also flob a gtx 560 is not a good card these days you should note how it is close in performance to a gtx 650ti a much cheaper card that uses less power really what you should buy is a 660ti or 670

If you look at the elevator you can see what a elevator (or an exterior part) should look like in wire frame mode, (poly wise) otherwise this does look amazing.
-
Actually no, though some parts of the plane are high poly i make sure that other parts are far less poly for example the engines bomb bay and cockpit are the three most intensive parts of the model equating to about 75-80% of the total amount of polygons however when you are in extireior view i can remove most of the cockpit detail and when you are in interior view i can remove the engines entirely and i can make a low poly version of the bombs in the bomb bay for the extirier view which makes my poly count actually pretty reasonable not to mention the elevators and wings contain less than 500 polygons each and the entire fuselage takes up no less than 600

Basicly its a free mmorpg (massively multiplayer online role playing game) where you can fly a lot of aircarft from ww2 it also is a good flight sim with AMAZING graphics it even has full 3d trees and nearly all planes have high quality virtual cockpits

that's what I thought but since I use XP-10 I thought they were to blurry to be default textures
-
Today I was doing a render of one of the engines and managed to get this result not bad considering the engine has no materials applied to it
-
why are the textures blurry in the top right corner of the second screenshot? otherwise that picture could be mistaken for a real photo!
-
Redid the turrets and reduced the polygon count on them in the process. also I managed to find a reprint (well sort of reprint) of the training manual for a B-29 commander conatining B-29 CHECKLISTS! you can read it HERE

Yes but things like your actually processor model (for example an i7 or fx 8350) can also affect your performance in xp also it is impossible to give you performance advice without knowing the resolution at which you play xp as well as what version of xp you have also what type of 680 do you have do you have a super overclock version a ftw card etc.
