Same here, on my Mac I only have 1GB of Video RAM, but 16GB of RAM. Can you give me some steps to reproduce the problem, e.g. an airport to take of from and try out. It might actually be something on the tile causing it to crash and not load.

Hmm, I think something else is going on here if I'm honest. Is it running out of memory?

Cris, I've been looking through how we handle the density settings, and I found a bug with how it handles objects. Basically, I've accidentally told X-Plane that I want all objects visible no matter what, so I need to fix this, and get it into the next version. The density settings do work for facades however. Also, if you pause, does the scenery eventually appear, and how long does it normally take to load the tile?

Same here Cris, on my Windows laptop which has a slow disk, it sometimes happens that X-Plane can't load the scenery fast enough. I'm plagued with this issue on FSX and P3D as well, i.e. Blurry scenery. One thing that really slows down scenery loading is smart exclusions. Most of Simheaven's w2xp scenery has smart exclusions enabled, so when X-Plane is loading the tile, it has to calculate what's visible and not from the scenery below. Here are two things that can help (and have helped me) 1) Remove any other scenery you don't need below Germany, .e.g If you have OSM+Autogen for Europe installed, disable it. X-Plane has to load both sceneries to calculate exclusions. 2) If you're using ZL17 photo scenery, consider going to ZL16 unless you invest in an SSD disk. This is a big cause of slow loading times as well 3) Use W2XP without smart exclusions, e.g. The ones blacky uploads generally don't have these. Such tiles use less memory, load quicker, but of course, completely block out X-Plane's default autogen.

Thanks Peter You're the second to report this, so it's seem quite sporadic. I'll have a look into it, I'm guessing it's the surrounding farmland causing it. Also, if you do take shots of Runcorn Bridge, Try and get it from the side, which maybe quite difficult. If you manage to get some shots of supermarkets, try and get them straight on, i.e. Front of the building, and optionally the side. I'm also flying over to the UK next month, so I'll have my camera on the ready also to grab a few shots Tony

So, I'm guessing it's one of the facades causing the crash again (Perhaps another mistake). When you lower the settings, I'm guessing it doesn't try and draw the facade. I'll have a try again over the weekend to work it out, however the problem is I can't get it to crash.

I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you :-) I can see from this pic that we need to reduce the red roofs a little in this area

Ah yes mate, but I have X-Plane 12 Beta 3 and I'm using World2XPlane v10.5.1 Incidentally, I love Innsbruck. Spent some time down there for work. Stayed in a hotel near to the airport, we're not doing too bad :-)
-
Mine does, I don't know what you're talking about ;-)

Hi Caruso Actually we have Coop in Poland as well, it's also in the UK The pictures need to be completely face on, ones taken from a corner or angle are really difficult to use for textures, i.e. I couldn't really use the ones of Migros you've posted, as I couldn't align in to a 3D model. So you'd need to stand at the front of the building, and take the picture that way, so the image is a straight as possible. We can use anything, as long as it's straight and not angled. e.g. If you take a picture of the just the shop part of the full building, we could use that Thanks Tony

Thanks Flo, I'm glad you like the scenery and are getting good results with it Tony

Hey no worries, I was just curious if you were a developer and had a dislike for Java ;-)

Guro, try using 0.4.1a on the website, where I've reduced the tolerance from 1.5m to 1.0m. This is an issue with some of the houses being too big and colliding with the house next to them. I've now reduced the tolerance so that it happens less. Also, I think Simheaven has uploaded some new sceneries using the beta released on Sunday

? SLEEP ? What's that????
-
If anyone downloaded 0.4.0 yesterday, I've uploaded a patch to 0.4.1a to world2xplane.com. This should "hopefully" fix an issue with hanging on certain scenery tiles and also resolve a problem with some badly rotated buildings. I'd recommend anyone to remove 0.4.0 and use this beta instead.

I don't know if I'm honest. If PilotBalu has used the default config file which comes with v0.4.0, then yes. But I believe he tweaks it slightly, and also adds smart exclusions. Ironmaiden, I look forward to seeing your video ;-). Regarding fraps, I heard that you can get it working better by saving the video file to a memory disk, Blacky should be able to advise here, as he's done lots of videos, and they're all smooth. I know nothing about video recording, YouTube etc.

0.4.0 is now available for download on the blog. It includes a lower def config file, so hopefully the generated scenery won't require a NASA supercomputer to run

Thanks Andras. It's like everywhere in OSM, the cities are quite well done, but outside the cities, it's bare and empty, e.g. http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=15/55.6522/9.4149. In terms of World2XPlane, the smaller towns and villages are where its strengths lie, and also are used as VFR reference points, so without this, it looks pretty weak outside of the cities. I think a direct/blind import into OSM is frowned upon for obvious reasons. Somebody did this in Poland with forests, so now lots of forests are doubled up and it's a mess. Some people have been doing it with the OS OpenData in the UK, and it looks bad left unchecked. It would require parts of it to be imported, checked by volunteers, etc.. So many import projects have stalled because people don't have time to do this now, so even with an import script (which is the easy bit), it would require lots of hours to get this data in. In the early days of OSM when the Netherlands and France had such an import, is was fairly easy as the map was still quite empty. Edit: What is this game minecraft. I hear people talk about it and it's very popular, but it looks like a game from the early 90's or something :-).

Aren't those the ones Blacky did using the HD config?
-
Seems to work best, But up to you of course
-
Probably why it doesn't work then
-
Ironmaiden, I'm presuming you're using 7zip? http://www.7-zip.org/

Is there an effort to get this data into OpenStreetMap, if the license allows it? Edit: It seems it also includes buildings, so this is a great candidate for World2XPlane scenery. Can someone who understands Danish have a scan through the site and see if the license permits its usage as an OSM data source, and I'll write up a script to convert the buildings to OSM data and start an import project on OSM? http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Potential_Datasources

I don't really know what to suggest at the moment. I think Simheaven has just uploaded Austria/Switzerland and Germany all together using the SD config file in 0.4.0, which should improve things a little bit. Also, I suggest you try the following things: 1) Disable any other scenery you are not using, e.g. Simheaven's OSM Europe scenery. As X-Plane still has to load both to calculate exclusions which will increase loading times. 2) Enable texture compression if you haven't already. Also, let me know how much memory is being reported. Once 0.4.0 is out, you can and should just build your own scenery, and disable everything you don't want or need in the config file. Also, Simheaven generates their scenery with smart exclusions which can double loading times as X-Plane has to calculate what's visible and not. So, if you are happy to live without autogen from X-Plane, then this will give you a performance boost as well.

I'd suggest Skymaxx Pro. It really helps framerates when using the clouds, and I've been able to have real weather without a huge hit on framerates.
