If your going to use it as a "sim only" machine, that's not a bad spec IMHO. If you shopped around a bit you could up the spec on the processor and or increase the RAM a bit for the same money? But if your not lucky enough to have a "sim only" machine, be doubly sure to check that you turn off all the "extra processes and programs running in the background" that are not needed when running X-Plane (especially if running Windows). Or all that lovely new hardware may get "bogged down". WD VelociRaptors are my "HDD" of choice, got 5 on my sim machine :D cessna729.

Just remember not all aircraft have raindrop animation, but those that do *can* have the same raindrop effect you mentioned when it's not actually raining at that instant, sometime X-Plane gets a bit mixed up between sessions and loading other aircraft and sometimes on loading a different aircraft some settings might not get initalised correctly. Example, last time I flew the B-777-200LR it was raining, I exited X-Plane and the next day, the Wx had improced (i.e. not raining now in downloaded Wx), but on startup X-Plane loaded the last aircraft I flew last time at the same airport and, you guessed it, there was raindrops on the cockpit windows (and it wasn't raining). If it happens to you again, just switch on the windscreen wipers. or if you realy don't want raindrops just select CAVOK or switch off precipitation. cessna729.

Sounds interesting, I've two questions; can users just add Fix's or can they add VOR, NDB, ILS (and associated LOC, G/S, and DME's)?will the XPOND web site remove duplicates (i.e those where one user quoted a Fix to the nearest degree and some other user quoted the same fix but miss-spelt it or used 9 decimal places), or will the user have to do that themselves after downloading?

A little NOTAM for CRJ-200 Flyers, Only tried on Windows 7 (64-bit), with X-Plane 9.70, 10.20 and 10.21r1, using navdata cycles between 1202 and 1305 to check each LZKZ.xml. There are a number of duplicate SID/STAR names at Airports in the FMS data that the CRJ uses (see previous posts). This occours a total of 570 times at some 118 airports.(which is a very, very small % of the total airports with procedures, note these numbers are taken from the 1305 dataset, which is almost the same as the current 1304). The other thing worth noting is that this "bug" may have been present for some time, but hasn't been picked up because most of the airports affected are remote. But this could mean some STARS not appearing in the ARRIVALS page of the CRJ's FMS. So if you think your missing some STARS, feel free to check the full list and see if your Airport and STAR are listed. Luckily most of the affected 118 airports are off the beaten track and inculde places like NDJILI INTL, BOLE INTL, HURGHADA INTL, LUXOR INTL, TABA INTL,SHAHID BEHESHTI INTL, SARDAR-E-JANGAL and BANDAR ABBASS INTL. If you feel the need to have a few of those STARS back, there is a simple (but unofficial workaround, heed the warning first. see here) Duplicate Proc Idents.txt Update: Reformated the table CRJ_FMS_Data_NOTAM_001.html cessna729

Hi, I've just got home and checked my sim with CRJ-200 (32-bit) and the current AIRAC 1304 Rev1 Navigraph FMS Data. Sovled it!!!! In the Real World at LZKZ there are SIDS and STARS with exactly the same Names!! Navigraph is using a shortened form of these names in their 1304 FMS Data for the CRJ-200.(cos of ARINC limit of 6 characters). This is as provided by Navigraph (note duplicate NAMES) Same thing apparently happens with NavDataPro . Unfortunately the CRJ does not seem to like this, and as the SID definitions appear before the STAR definitions, any STAR with a name that has already been allocated to a SID, does not appear in the LZKZ ARRIVALs pages on the CRJ's FMS. AS demonstrated here: Warning: Don't attempt this unofficial and unsupported workaround if your at all unsure about editing .xml files, and if you do try, don't forget to backup the files before you start. And remember your edits will be overwritten when you next update the navdata. If I rename all the STARS (that have a duplicate SID name) except DEDI1B by adding 1 letter after the 4th characterin of each of the STAR's names. eg. DEDI1A => DEDIS1A, EBEN1A => EBENI1A, KEKE6A => KEKED6A and NOKR1A => NIKRI1A That makes all the STAR's except DEDI1B unique, and guess what, all the stars except DEDI1B will then appear in the FMS. If I then make the remaining STAR DEDI1B unique, by renamining it to DEDIS1B, *ALL* the STAR's appear in the FMS. So what I don't know, is whether the RW data is wrong (SIDS and STARS at the same airport with the same names)? or wether it's a minor bug in the CRJ-200 that dosn't like identical names at the same airport. I don't think we can blame Navigraph IMHO. I don't know if this "feature/bug" is limited to just LZKZ , how many airports have identical names for the SIDs and STARs? Now know RW data and Navigraph data appears correct, and approx 118 Airports affected. But I can't find any LZIZ.xml and LZZI.xml only has APProachs listed, No SIDs or STARs. cessna729. Update:

@ephendi Had a quick look at the only copy of navigraph data that I have with me (at work not near sim machine at the moment). In Navigraph FMS data cycle 1212 for the CRJ, they appear to have used a shortend form of naming in LZKZ.xml "DEDI1B" in place of the actual name "DEDIS 1B". Note Navigraph appear to have used lots of shortened names on other procedures in this data. As Philipp says the best person to take this up with is Richard or Ian at Navigraph as they can check with their data provider as to what may have changed to have caused your problem. If you would like I could try loading some of my archived navdata into my CRJ when I get home tonight? What version of the CRJ are you using? 1.4.5? cessna729.

Hi Peter, am at work not my sim so can't check at the moment But from memory I'm not too sure that the CRJ actually uses the SID and STAR directories, may only use the Proc folder? Works ok for me a few minutes ago Using Windows 7 (64-bit), and Firefox 20.0.1, it downloaded a 105MB .7z Zip achive file: No it's not encrypted and dosn't need a password, You just need something that can handel .7z files, I used WinRAR on my machine, juts try a Mac equivalent like this or similar. Just a little patience, and practice and you won't have any problem. If a ham fisted driver like me can make a half decent takeoff I'm sure you will be able to. The correct use of the rudder pedals will solve most of your problem (they arn't only foot rests you know) .

That would be a start! (or use THRUST LIMIT hint, hint). The Real CRJ-200 is *NOT* an Airbus! . The Real CRJ-200 has not got an auto-throttle, and the pilot has to control the throttle. Javier and Philipp (the devs) have tried to accurately model this in the simulated version. You the "pilot in command" have to control the throttle, all the FMS is designed to do, if you set it correctly will be to PERF INIT, THRUST LIMIT.( for TGT/TO/CLB/CRZ/MCT etc).. Also all the "speed" button and knob on the control panel do is to maintain a "target" speed when climbing or decending *AND NOT* when flying level (similar thing to selecting VS). Just like the "real" aircraft, the sim autopilot try to control "speed" by changing the pitch attitude (when going too fast it will pitch up, when flting too slow it will pitch down) because it has no auto throttle control. If you want to change this design behaviour (as ayarov suggested), look in the CRJ's aircaft folder for another folder called "User Modifications", look in that for Pitch Oscilation in Autopilot Fix (follow the instructions inside that). cessna729.

@ephendi Attach a copy of you latest Crash log and log.txt to check if it still is related. Were you flying in the same area/scenery as before? If so what happens when you fly somewhere different? cessna729.
