  2. I had some replacement mesh before, maybe from simheaven,

Simheaven completely replaces anything in an area. It is a "bulldozer" style replacement terrain DSF - and will cause you problems if its installed in weird orders. it will supress all other scenery in an area. It also uses terrible quality orthos, so you're not losing much by not using it!

Try moving things out of your custom scenery directory first (i.e. make mainly empty), and only add the 3 Toronto files first ( to ensure they work fine) and OpensceneryX. That should be all you need to make this work. (my CYYZ may complain about some missing container files, but that's a known bug at this point).

Let me know how that works... i.e. "back to basics". Nothing in /Custom Scenery/ but CYYZ, CYTZ, zToronto, and OpensceneryX.

Sorry you're having so much trouble using X-Plane's Custom Scenery. it was actually designed to be reasy to use for the end-user. Unfortunately, looks like we have 3 or 4 competing sceneries all vying for that tile space here!

    - CK.

  3. Nope. doesnt work.

Yes, placing a taxiway over the approach lighting makes the lighting be recessed. Please note that the lighting is still there -XP just uses the 'inset' model instead of the 'standing straight up' model. The lights are not suppressed per se.

There is no "inset" version of the ILS model.

There is another trick you can do, which is to replace the lib/airport/NAVAIDS/ILS.obj with a blank "object" (using a library statement on an explicit path) for that tile from within the /Custom Scenery/ project folder. It's a trick, but should work (and suppresses *every* ILS marker for that 1x1 degree tile)

Again, The real solution is to simply move the ILS antenna to it's correct location using [Edit], and submitting the new location to Robin.

  4. This is not a standard DSF object. No. This is a NAVAID - and is part of Robin Peel's master database.

You cannot edit this in WED, since it's neither an Airport taxiway/runway, nor is it an overlay/terrain object. (these are the only things WED can affect)

NAVAIDs are drawn by X-Plane all by itself internally.... - with no way to influence their location or visibility through WED or OE or any other method.

Submit an update to Robin if it's in the wrong place.

  5. Hrm - accoridng to your log, it's only complaining about:

Failed to find resource 'garybkk/containers/quad.obj' at 'Custom Scenery/CYYZ Toronto Pearson Airport (ISDG Group)/garybkk/containers/quad.obj'Failed to find resource 'garybkk/containers/quad.obj' at 'Custom Scenery/CYYZ Toronto Pearson Airport (ISDG Group)/custom objects/garybkk/containers/quad.obj'0:00:04.961 E/SCN: Unable to locate object: garybkk/containers/quad.objFailed to find resource 'garybkk/containers/single.obj' at 'Custom Scenery/CYYZ Toronto Pearson Airport (ISDG Group)/garybkk/containers/single.obj'Failed to find resource 'garybkk/containers/single.obj' at 'Custom Scenery/CYYZ Toronto Pearson Airport (ISDG Group)/custom objects/garybkk/containers/single.obj'0:00:04.961 E/SCN: Custom Scenery/CYYZ Toronto Pearson Airport (ISDG Group)/Earth nav data/+40-080/+43-080.dsf:0:00:04.961 E/SCN: Unable to locate object: garybkk/containers/single.obj

i.e. Only the single/quad shipping containers which I mentioned earlier - (which yes, I need to fix in a better way).

I dont see any reference at all to:

    lib/airport/Common_Elements/Fuel_Storage/Sing_Tank_Small.obj
    lib/g10/streetlights/AreaFloodShort.obj
    lib/g10/US/commercial/90x30x8v0.fac
    lib/g10/US/industrial/light/Fact60x60_v1.obj
    lib/g10/US/industrial/light/GateHut3x3.obj
    lib/g10/US/industrial/light/SiteOffice6x12.obj
    lib/g10/US/industrial/light/SiteOffice8x14.obj

....In the Log file. meaning that XP10 can find those with no problems.

you mentioned you used Overlay editor? (to see those errors?) I don't know why Jonathan's program cannot find these objects... they're standard XP10 lib. Sounds like OE is missing those lib/g10 items (nothing to do with the scenery). The only ones XP10 is complaining about are the garybkk/containers which, yeah, I need to move into the ISDG Library.

Thanks for the report! I'll fix that before final release. (those are multiple-instantiated library objects, which I need to find a better way to insnantiate). BTW, if you have my YSSY package, those errors will go away temporarily. (I dont wish to make any dependencies here, and I'll re-do the library work "properly" so I dont make any weird hooks to other scenery - but for sakes of fixing the object derivation - you can do that for now as a temporary 'fix').

    - Ck.

  6. garybkk/containers/dual.obj
    garybkk/containers/quad.obj
    garybkk/containers/single.obj

Ok, the above are indeed my mistake - I havea dependent library call which I will fix. (this is why we Beta test!) :)

    lib/airport/Common_Elements/Fuel_Storage/Sing_Tank_Small.obj
    lib/g10/streetlights/AreaFloodShort.obj
    lib/g10/US/commercial/90x30x8v0.fac
    lib/g10/US/industrial/light/Fact60x60_v1.obj
    lib/g10/US/industrial/light/GateHut3x3.obj
    lib/g10/US/industrial/light/SiteOffice6x12.obj
    lib/g10/US/industrial/light/SiteOffice8x14.obj

these are *all* standard X-Plane 10 items... which showed up in 10.20 b6 or so.. ensure you're up to date to 10.21 (re-run the installer). Likewise, send me your Log.txt file (attach it here)... as this shouldn't be happening here... (tricky fix)

  7. Cool. thanks.! Thats either rivere's or patchett's Q400 I think. (CDN/Ed knows). Sure! Just zip it and upload it, and attach it to a private Message to me. I'll see that Ed gets it included for the next build!

    > For some reason when I convert this bmp to dds using DXT1 bitmap manipulator and try to use that, the plane is all white!

Use XGrinder here for best results: http://developer.x-plane.com/tools/xptools/  Theres a nice GUI for DDSTool in there - just drag and drop the BMP/PNG and out pops a DDS

  8. Yep - this is one of those areas where we have multiple packages (at least 3, Jacques', YTZ, YYZ) which combine using the "DSF Overlay" in X-Plane to blend into one seamless view.

Theres a CYZD Downsview and CYKZ Buttonville also in the area. (as well as Bulington Airpark, Brampton Flying Club, etc.). Lots of well made GA fields in the area to fly to and from.

For the Jets, Freddy made a good CYHM Hamilton too w/orthos.

    - Ck.

Note: The scenery has been updated (both CYTZ and CYYZ) since Xplaneuser made this video! Looking forward to the next installment!! :)

Great Videos BTW - Love the Groovy Jazz tracks you use.. very funk-kay.! Really liked the YPAD soundtrack you used too :)

  9. And here they are:

    lib/g8/terrain/rainforest_steep.for

    lib/g8/terrain/rainforest_hill.for

    lib/g8/terrain/rainforest_flat_low.for

    lib/g8/terrain/rainforest_flat_mid.for

    lib/g8/terrain/rainforest_flat_top.for

Any of these 5 versions above all point to the same "forest" file you were referencing.

    - CK.

(for those keen spelunking, this is in the library.txt file)

    Resources/default scenery/900 forests/library.txt:

    ...

    ...

    ...

    EXPORT lib/g8/terrain/rainforest_steep.for rainforest.for

    EXPORT lib/g8/terrain/rainforest_hill.for rainforest.for

    EXPORT lib/g8/terrain/rainforest_flat_low.for rainforest.for

    EXPORT lib/g8/terrain/rainforest_flat_mid.for rainforest.for

    EXPORT lib/g8/terrain/rainforest_flat_top.for rainforest.for

    ...

    ...

    ...

  10. You reference it via the library system.

I betcha there is a valid XP-Library entry for that exact forest definition file somehere in "lib/g8/" as Andy pointed out. I'll have a look when I get home in Xplane's "default library.txt" definition files (thres a few different library.txt files it could be hiding in - somewhere in /Resources/900)

  11. He's adding the forest using absolute pathing - which you cannot do in xplane.

All resources must be relative to the custom scrnery folder or from the built in library.

You cannot ask for a resource from "C:\somedir\somefolder\someforest.for" which is what is happening in the above example.

even if it did work, it wouldn't work on anyone else's computer. (I don't have a "C:" drive on my Xplane computer).

  12. File Name: CYTZ Toronto Island Airport

    File Submitted: 26 May 2013

    File Category: DSF Scenery Packages

    X-Plane Version(s): X-Plane 10

    CYTZ Toronto Island Airport
Authors: CDN 791M and Chris K of the International Scenery Development Group (ISDG)
    Version 1.0 - Jun 25, 2013

    __________________________________________________________

    Features:

    - USGS 30cm/pix Hi-res Orthophotos.
    - An Updated Toronto City Centre (Billy Bishop) Airport by CDN791M (Ed).
    - FreddyV's CN Tower Replacement Object (credits below)
    - Extensive buildout of Toronto Island and Surrounding Environs (Ontario Place, Christie Spit, etc)
    - Additional Toronto Downtown Buildings in various locations using the XP10 Art Library.

Note: this is a 100% original work for XP10 - and should not detract from Pachett's excellent CYTZ for v9/v10.

    __________________________________________________________

    Requirements:

    - X-Plane 10.20 or Better (http://www.x-plane.com/)

    - OpensceneryX 2.0 (http://opensceneryx.com/)

    - A Modern Video Card with MINIMUM 512Mb VRAM.

    - You will want to run this scenery at "very high" or "extreme" Texture Resolution.

    - X-Plane 64-bit and 1 Gb VRAM Video card is recommended for the Higher Texture resolutions.

    __________________________________________________________

Complimentary packages (i.e. Where is The Rest of Toronto!?!?)

You should *also* install the following:

    CYYZ Toronto Pearson Airport
    X-Pilot: http://forums.x-pilot.com/files/file/471-cyyz-toronto-pearson-airport/

    Jacques Brault - Toronto Skyline:
    X-P.org: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=17619

    1. Copy Jacques' Package into your /Custom Scenery/
    2. Inside our "CYTZ Toronto Island Airport" package is a folder called "Skyline Package - Night Lighting Textures".
    3. Copy in those additional textures (courtesy of ILMARS) to Jacque's Skyline Package's /objects/ directory.
This will give you night textures for the buildings.

    Once done:

    4. Edit your /Custom Scenery/scenery.ini file to manually position our package at the top of the .ini file
Ensure that our scenery (CYTZ Toronto Island Airport) is before Jacques (zCanada CYTZ Island ON) package in the list.

Your scenery_pack.ini should look something like this:

    I1000 versionSCENERYSCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/CYTZ Toronto Island Airport/SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/CYYZ Toronto Pearson/SCENERY_PACK Custom Scenery/zCanada CYTZ Toronto Island ON/...... other stuff...

(Note: If you don't feel like mucking about with an .ini file - simply delete your personal /Custom Scenery/scenery_packs.ini file, and due to alphabetical order on reload, the load order ends up putting the packages in the correct order).

Upon reload of X-Plane, this scenery then merges with Jacques' excellent Toronto Skyline. Due to the way the X-Plane does object overlays, the two scenery packages blend into one seamless scenery, with full day and night lighting effects.

    __________________________________________________________

    Additional stuff you should have:

  13. You're saying that when you import an image, the WED vector runways (which you have manually lined up the coordinates for) somehow moves/changes?

Very very weird. I've never had anything suddenly "move" when importing an overlay image into WED. As a last resort - hit the 'lock' button against your Airport hierarchy on the top right side, to ensure that nothing changes.

    Hope that helps.

To get the preview panes (as per the screenshot), you need to use WED 1.2.

  14. CYTZ and the Downtown area are coming along nicely

We've got our scenery inter-weaved with Jacques' Toronto Skyline Package buildings properly now (you load both his and ours - DSF Overlays take care of the rest)

    cytz.jpg

    cytz2.jpg

    click for larger images.

Just a sample of the hard work happening behind the scenes. CDN (ed) Is busy beavering away on Ontario Place, I've been working on the Christie Spit area, as well as tweaking the orthos for better colour correction.

The GTA is not a trivial area to model properly! :)

  15. File Name: CYYZ Toronto Pearson Airport

    File Submitter: chris k

    File Submitted: 18 May 2013

    File Category: DSF Scenery Packages

    X-Plane Version(s): X-Plane 10

    CYYZ Toronto Pearson Airport
    1.20 July 27, 2014 Build
    Chris K and the ISDG

    __________________________________________________________

    Preamble:

This is a generally stable build with no library conflicts; and all areas should be drivable and flyable. The ILS may be a fraction off due to repositioning of the runways to their orthophoto corrected locations, and verified with another 3rd party. It is also currently lacking ATC taxi-flow.

However, these omissions are not “showstoppers” per se.

    __________________________________________________________

    General Features:

    - Photorealistic terrain at 30cm/pix resolution as per the USGS
    - Proper Taxi Signage (was never there in any previous version of the CYYZ apt.dat it would seem)
    - Recent CAP CYYZ Charts (SIDs/STARs/RWY Approaches)
    - Repositioned most field objects to match the orthos, accurate within 15 cm +/-
    - Fixed runway markings, blastpads, and the like to reflect reality
    - Gritty ground and orthophoto texture support
    - Replacement Glideslope towers
    - Runway Stop Bar / Guard Lighting System (this is for YYZatcboy Joe smile.png How’s this for accuracy! )
Each runway entrance is protected by a stop bar consisting of red in-set lights located at all taxi holding positions.
This is the runway warning/occupancy indicator system in-use in Toronto, and will be familiar to most heavy metal pilots.

    - Build-out of industrial parks, Eglinton Ave E, Airport Road, Dixie Road, Brittania, Dixon Road, and the Hotel Strip
    - Various “Easter Eggs” with more to come in subsequent releases. (See if you can find the Tim Horton’s Coffee Shop!)

    __________________________________________________________

    Notes on the Taxiways:

There are two versions of the taxiways included in this package.

    1. Normal taxiways shown (regular asphalt, visible, drivable)

    2. Hidden taxiways (regular asphalt, not shown, but still drivable)

    - You can also turn off the taxiways (hide/show) by replacing the “.POL”files located in the “orthophotos/” directory. This will give the same effect as in our CYTZ Package; whereas the taxiways are only drawn as per the ortho, but with visible (XP generated) centre, edge, and-hold-line markings.

    - Assuming you have the VRAM to run in extreme (native texture) resolution, you can take advantage of the full photo-realistic ground effect.

    - Simply copy the appropriate files form the “/1 Hide Taxiways/” directory into the parent directory and overwrite the existing POLs.

    - To restore the regular (visible) taxiways, simply copy the contents of the “/2 Show Taxiways/” into the parent directory, overwriting the POLs.

    __________________________________________________________

    Requirements:

    - X-Plane 10.20 or better
    - OpensceneryX 2.0 (http://opensceneryx.com/)
    - A Modern Video Card with MINIMUM 512Mb VRAM.
    - You will want to run this scenery at “Very High” or “Extreme” Texture Resolution.
    - X-Plane 10.20 64-bit and 2 Gb VRAM Video card is recommended for the Highest Texture resolutions.

  16. LOL

Yah It's still there on my HDD - However, Im using what techniques I have learned for this project and am applying them to Toronto at the moment.

I expect to give the "Golden Horseshoe" (GTA - Greater Toronto Area) this type of look and feel w/the toronto-style urban replacements, parks, etc.
