  4. This is a great idea. I'm not developer of any kind but wouldn't the source of the problem (x-plane weather engine) help with SkyMaxx as well if that were the case? If laminar had a gradual change to "new weather" over a period of a couple minutes, that would automatically apply to SM then. Maybe a suggestion focused to laminar would be better. I would be happy to do this but I think someone with some experience coding should so this so that it will be actually taken seriously if it is possible. 5. THAT WAS IT! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
  6. Ah!!!!!! Thank you! I will try that! That makes sense! Seriously! Thanks!
  7. You have the OPTION of putting them in manually but: 1) it is "suppose" to do it automatically after imputing the OAT. (It does half the time for me) 2) if I were to do it manually, what are the calculations to figure all others after TO? (TO calculations table found in pilot handbook)
  8. Hello all! - Long time, no speak! Since Version 1 of CRJ2, I have seen that about 50% of the time when it comes time to set the thrust limits and I input the OAT- my T/O, CLB/CRZ...ECT... does not do anything. Attached is a picture of what I am talking about. In this case I have set my Wx to a PERFECT day.... 29.92, 15c OAT, clear skies, ect.... I input the 15C for my OAT and I get no response for calculated thrust limits. Now I "KNOW" I can look up the T/O value in the provided handbook but what do I then do about the other phases? (The other 50% of the time, it works without problem ) As for what am I doing prior to OAT input? Well i have built a custom checklist. That is also attached. Any advice on what I am doing wrong would be very helpful! Thanks! JROLLON CRJ200 CHECKLIST.pdf
  9. Nicola_M pretty much said it... But just because the local view does not "see" outside the area printed does not mean you can't tune to that VOR/NAVAID. Check our websites like SKYVECTOR.com and tune in the NAVAID you want. It will tune in realistically. Also be sure you get the most up to date NavData for X-Plane. Google "X-Plane NavData download" Good luck! Best Regards, Kyle Sanders X-Plane Aviators Founder
  10. ZLC ARTCC now hosts Facebook groups and pages within its' social boundaries. Facebook Group (open to all): https://www.facebook.com/groups/ZLCARTCCPublic/ Facebook Group (only for registered members of the ZLC site):https://www.facebook.com/groups/ZLCARTCC/ Facebook Page (open to all): https://www.facebook.com/ZLCARTCC It is suggested with the "Groups" to navigate to the group settings icon and select the group as a "Favorite" so that it may stay under your Favorites category to the left. 11. Hello, I am just now getting back into flying the CRJ2 again. I am using the Remote CDU on another computer with Firefox. The CDU screen is blinking a lot (refreshing I guess). Is there a way to stop this? Also, would there be a way to free type into the scratch pad with the computer keyboard like the native CRJ2 FMC?
  12. Join the X-Plane Aviators Community Group Flight! KSLC-KSFO (VATSIM) 15JUN2013 Takeoff: 2300z This group flight is primarily geared towards the X-Plane Aviators Community (XPA) but is an open invitation to all who wish to participate, regardless of VA or SIM preference. Please send the event brief to anyone/organization you think might be interested in participating. We are expecting full ATC coverage for the entire flight from ZOA and ZLC ARTCC’s. In the downloadable Flight Brief, you can find more information on the flight along with links to XPA group resources, charts and specific airport/airspace operation guides. 13. Come Join the X-Plane Aviators (XPA) Facebook Group page! This new group is full of serious X-Plane desktop simulator users/developers. We have been around since June of 2012 and have grown to a very friendly, respected and supportive X-Plane Aviation enthusiast group. We have a community TeamSpeak (TS) in which you may have access to once joined. We are working on a website and a forum. We hope to have the forum open within a month or so. If you are looking for X-Plane iOS application support, this is NOT the group for you. We, at XPA, do not consider this simulator a “Game” and do not "Play" it. We take it very seriously. We look forward to having you with us! (please look at the group description by joining, clicking on the ABOUT link right below the group page banner. Then click on “SEE MORE” to read the full description.) https://www.facebook.com/groups/FlightTraining/
  14. Lol sorry that is essentially what I meant... I guess I did not explain myself
  15. I wonder if 10.20 will stay in Beta until 64bit is COMPLETELY stable...
  16. Right... so XP10 is not "stable" when it comes to performance parameters
  17. Well if you can think of a way to make the weather conditions at each altitude as they are in real life referencing the weather conditions I put in the brief then you can do this without the plug-in. Infact, I might give it one more shot now without the plug-in. Also, it has to be done in XP9.7 for MY test... I am reading reports of XP10 allowing the CRJ2 to shoot up like a ROCKET.
  18. This is a nice thought, but: 1) If they do not know how to plug-in the route via FMC, then they probably do not have the knowledge of where to place the pre-made flight plan file and nor how to LOAD it via the FMC. 2) If they do not know how to plug-in a route into the FMC without step by step instructions, it is likely that they are not the target audience for this test. This test takes a knowledgeable pilot in order to get accurate results lol You are a very smart member here in the X-Pilot forums, I would like for you to conduct this test if you dont mind.. reference the real world charts for the planning to see what I did and see if I am making a mistake somewhere? I would MUCH rather it be ME making a mistake and fixing how I do things rather than me not be able to fly this aircraft anymore.
  19. I have just gone back and looked at the dates... I for some reason though that 4 JAN was 4 DEC of 2012. My apologies.
  20. Yes, i understand that not everyone has the Python interface, but it is a good thing to have and maybe will allow someone to become aware of it via this brief. It is also a CONDITION of this test. I regret posting it so early now that I have found that the CRJ2 has completely different parameters in the XP10 version... to the point where it is unrealistic and shoots up like a "ROCKET"- from a real world CRJ2 pilot. So I completed my test on the XP9.7. My results were not great. I have used all three climb profiles supplied with the CRJ2: 250/M.74.... 250/290/M.74 and 250/320/M.77... they ALL have the same results... Not getting to their optimum altitude for its weight and ISA Deviation. XP9 and 10 also does not simulate upper level winds accurately. I get my ISA Deviation and wind component information from here: http://aviationweather.gov/adds/winds/ Cameron has told me that I am the only one asking for this level of realism, If that is true, then that is sad. I cannot fly this aircraft if I do not have a proper flight planning resource. I have one... it is the real world charts... but the CRJ2 in the simulator does not perform correctly with those. yeah... that JORDAN error has been pointed out to me more times than I can count lol. But as far as saving a flight plan for all three profiles... Im not sure what you mean. The route is supplied via the brief, Everything else is up to the pilot to manage.
  21. Cameron, I am sorry but that thread is new that I referenced and is still active.
  22. I would like to add to this thread with another problem that is still being tested in XP9.7... http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php/topic/4409-calling-real-world-crj2-pilots/page-2
  23. Ok, So i tried the published 250/320/M.77 climb profile. It still did not work. Planning put me at FL390 but the "30% or less of total trip distance for CLB" rule made it to be FL370 for optimum cruise ECON. You will find all the detailed information that I have put out for others to try as well in a very large X-Plane enthusiasts group. All the feedback came back is still coming in but so far looks to be the same problem with everyone. Please look through the document attached here and tell me what you think. CRJ2 Test Brief.pdf
  24. AJ, At max thrust and a fixed V/S I'm "SURE" that it worked just fine but there are a few things that you have yet to consider: 1) using max thrust in a non-emergent situation is not a good thing. You will, over time, cause more maintainence on your aircraft and your airline will not be happy with you. Think of it as the redline on the RPMs of your car... Staying right below that redline is with the "safe operating limit" but would you want to do that all day everyday? How much fuel would you burn instead of being smart with speed vs efficiency? 2) what was your payload and GW? 3) what was your climb profile? 4) hand in hand with your GW- what was the ISA deviation and planned optimum cruise altitude? 5) head/tail winds? I can keep going but I think you get the idea.
