This is a livery-paint for the Leading Edge Simulations Douglas DC3/C47. Paint made by Leen "Flybike" de Jager This paint depicts (more or less) the DC3/C47, FZ658, Royal Newfoundland Air Force. Mind the strange "roundel" on the fuselage, this was a political protest on an air-force plane, and caused some fuzz in 1948/9 The original model had wing-registration, due to the limitations of the texture-mapping of this model, this could not be reproduced. ( grrrrrrrrr..........!!) The skin-set includes cockpit and cabin textures as well. Pay attention to the difference between the day and night-cabin-textures. How to install: Just unzip FZ658_Newfoundland.zip into a temp. folder, and start reading the readme file This livery comes without pilots. If you prefer to have the little guys at the yokes, just remove the pilot.png file from the FZ658_Newfoundland/objects - folder Have fun - Leen "Flybike" de Jager http://www.flybike-paints.nl

  4. I agree some real hinges would make it more real. On the other hand , doors can be reproduced very well when making use of bumpmapping. The same goes for the rivets. Making all rivets in 3D would make mega-mb airplane , thats why we use bumpmapping for that part. OK we cannot make huge hinges with bumpmapping (normalmapping) nevertheless there is no need for 2d painted doors to have a death-flat presentation. You see , almost real and I think real enough to make a model eyecatching. The magic word is bumpmapping aka normalmapping. Normal-files are excellent to regulate gloss too. As you can see on the picture the matt-black walkways are glosless. The rear-wheel-tyre is glosless while the rear-wheel-hub is glossy the same time. Ohh I like normals. Cheers Leen PS To avoid misunderstanding: I started publishing my paints here at X-Pilot "as well" NOT "instead of"
  5. Very fine paint!! Please allow me to ask why you prefer to fly the bird without "backdoor"? It really makes no sense (i.m.h.o.) , better have a faked one instead of missing one. The only difference between a real one and a really good "faked" one is the fact the real one can be opened and the faked one only gives the suggestion of being ready to be opened. As long as you are not "playing with doors" there is no difference. Are you really interested in "opening doors", I am certainly not. I prefer realistic looking models , instead of "Playmobil-doors". I really prefer your paint with your interpretation of the " barn-type-door". Cheers Leen de Jager
  6. A text editor is needed to change the text in some obj-files ( present in the Main_Objects-folder and NOT in the download) , according to the instruction PDF, to get the maximum profit of the coustom-made NML files. Most modelers do not allow ( or do not appreciate ) painters to change their OBJ files. Thats why I provide a very detailed , clear and simple instructionsheet , how to edit these files yourself. Nothing special and extremely simple. Opening and editing an OBJ file can be done with every computer wich is capable of making a text file. There is a standard text editer in almost every Mac configuration. Ask a Mac user for advise , I am a Windows-guy. Many downloads (hundreds !!) are already done , you`re the second one to ask. It really is not an issue. Cheers Leen
  7. Thanks for your support guys. White on top ,cheat in the middle and a bare*-belly. (* better said bare-ish ) It wasn`t that hard after all. Its like catching a flea , you just have to know how to do it. Cheers Leen

Look for STAMPE-SV4C_v.09-270_(33).zip ( designed for XP9 flying like a charm in XP10) Sometimes a model is so appealing I really wonder why do`nt we all fly this bird? I installed the little bird in X-Plane10 and I am thrilled. Really a small jewel , looking so pretty and flying so pleasantly. As usual I could not resist making an extra attractive skin. I implemented normal files in the model, added several details as usual, etc. A big "Merci beaucoup" for my friends from XPFR. 10. Ohh , thats a nice one too. The colors on that picture?? Real photos ( very sparse available ) show something else. White over the cheatline and bare metal under the cheatline. THAT part (lower) wil be the most difficult , lets see what I can do with that. To be continued. Cheers Leen

Not just a normal average paint , no, this time a real thrill for those who want someting "obscure and spectacular" This paint depicts (more or less) the N9012 in a livery for "Bird of the Sun" Air Travel Club.(1978) Special for this livery is the fact both sides of the plane have different textures. Both textures show the Maya-god "Quetzalcoatl" ( serpent-alike-symbol) , on the right with an animal-head ,on the left with a more human face , both known from the Maya-culture. Thats why I named this paint Quetzalcoatl. As usual this skin-package also includes customised cockpit/cabin texturing and normalmapping. New for this paint-job is the addition of some "virtual-cabin-windows"(exterior effect only) How to install: Just unzip Quetzalcoatl.zip in a temp folder. Unless her age, she was a reliable workhorse. These days she doesn't fly anymore but she still exists, standing at the entrance of the Nimes Naval base. As I wanted to give an over-all impression of the bird I aimed my brushes on the outside and to the interior, including the panel and cockpit as well. Did some additional bumpmapping (editing the normals accordingly the changes to the exterior). At the last moment a found a French crew, willing to fly this bird to you.
