[Feature request] "Close" button on pop-up avionics
charly replied to charly's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
Hi Philipp! Oh YES! for sure. I didn't remember about display frames, 'cause I disabled it from the very first day. A little invisible zone on the upper right corner would be OK I guess. The only risk is for "non-aware" users to mistakenly discard the popup instead of dragging it if they click on the wrong zone - so it has to be a little one. Idea for workaround: if X-Planes allows, can a right-click on popup discard it? (may cause issues on XP10 with cockpitmouselook). Double-clik may also be an option if it exists in X-Plane. Whatever solution I'll be happy to try! Tell me how I can help. Thks Philipp! Charles -
[Feature request] "Close" button on pop-up avionics
charly replied to charly's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
Hi Cam, OK for remembering position - glad it's in the todo. But my (main) request is not about resizing or remembering position of popups: it's about adding a "close" button on the popup itself. To avoid having to find the blank screen in the 3D cockpit when I want to discard the popup. Cheers, Charles -

Hi Cameron, Sorry, kept on browsing support forum and still can't find the topic you're reffering to. I would be gratefull if you could post me a link to there. Thks! Charles -
[Feature request] "Close" button on pop-up avionics
charly replied to charly's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
Hello, Cameron. You mean answered here? Pilotview - set up and used. FOV? 65° already. I "only" have 19' screen with 1280x1024 rendering, maybe here's the issue. I'd appreciate getting this "close" button on popups, too, as wadesworld. But I understand it won't be. Thks anyway. Charles -
Hi all! Was thinking about a potential new feature during tonight's flight. I do pop-up / pop-off PFD & NAV screen lots of times a flight, mainly to be able to access the controls underneath (A/P switches & knobs, QNH setting, NAV scale...). BUT: almost everytime I want to pop-off a screen, this pop-up (or another one) is placed on top of the "pop-off" click zone. So, I have to drag it, before I can click to pop-it-off. SO: would be sooo nice to me to have on the top-right corner of the pop-ups a tiny zone to pop it off (little cross or something similar). Pilots, would you enjoy it? (guess Philipp will want more than 1 interested user before investing time on that). Cheers, Charles ho! and BTW, another one I was thinking about: when I pop up several screens, they overlay all each others in the bottom-left corner: I'd love that every single screen pops-up in a different initial position. Of course, the behavior of retaining their last position after it was changed is a must to keep. Just speaking about the default initial position.

[Question to RL CRJ pilots] Thrust management, how to? (no bug in here!)
charly replied to charly's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
Thks Maksim! I'd love to! I've checked the scan quite a lot of times, and it looked to me that it must have been an ATHR-equiped CRJ. Indeed, the increase is sooooo smooth, I can't beleive it was hand-made! I'll apply as personnal rule to keep 1500ft/min @.7M, stopping @96% N1. If ever you find a RL rule for N1 setting, I'd love to know. Thks again! keep on posting new info here. Charly -
Hi folks! Question to RL pilots. My previous love, the Piaggio Avanti Alterna, had quite simple thrust rules: Full Power from TO to cruise. A Fadec would do the job to limit torque up to a certain level, where it would reach and keep 100% N1. In cruise, full power would not exceed VMO. With CRJ, things do not seem that easy. Let's take it step by step. 1: TO From FMC, we're given a TO thrust setting, depending on (from what I've read here) runway elevation and OAT. This does quite good job on long runways, but I've already scratched the ILS aerial with the gear on LFLB with that setting... So question: shouldn't the TO thrust setting also depend on weight and RWY length? Are there any RL charts for that? (I guess also V1 should depend on these parameters, so if anybody has got these charts...) 2: Climb I understand thrust has to be increased when air gets thinner, to keep some adequate climb rate. From Maksim (aviatop) post here, I can see that effectively thrust goes up with FL. Again, how to decide N1? Is there any ITT limit, or climb rate @ given mach to hold, or N2 limit, or any other RL rule? 3: Cruise No doubt here, I actually set N1 to keep Mach.75. But is this actual RL speed used for cruise on the CRJ? Just to get it "as real as it gets".... Thks! Charly

[Philipp] Random CTD when editing FPL in flight (w/ xsquawkbox)
charly replied to charly's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
Bug closed on 1.4.2! Thank you Philipp! At least w/o xsquawkbox. I'll try with next time. Did a "FMS stress test" tonight: LFLB-LFMN with tenths of DCT, STAR changes, FPL editing... no crash. Just noticed a strange behavior: - inbound LFMN on an ABDIL6R arrival - STAR ABD6R selected on FMS, but with no approach/RWY & TRANS selected, as I was intending to go for the famous VORa&VPT 04L @ Nice. As it does not exist in Navigraph data, I did add manually MUS & RIVRU before LFMN. - as I was somewhere between MUS & RIVRU but outside of the track (it's no direct in between these), I changed my mind for an ILS (picture below will tell you why ) - So I selected ILS04L with TRANS MUS onto the FMS - Worked fine, BUT the name of the fix it created close before my current position: LFLB (home airport). Indeed, it was not. (btw, can't guess if it was a fix created @ current pos to "initialize" a new track or any other fix just with wrong name). I'll try to replicate. But hey, Philipp, it's a MINOR issue. No hurry. Thks again! Charles -
[Philipp] Random CTD when editing FPL in flight (w/ xsquawkbox)
charly replied to charly's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
Thks Philipp! Should you need some more Beta-testers... Charly -
Hi Philipp, I've had 2 CTD in similar conditions: - online filght (xsquawkbox) - leveled flight with A/P on - try adding to add wpt on route => CTD (note: once it was after a G/A, second when I've been given a STAR starting from a wpt not on fpl). I forgot to save the logs for the first one. I did for the second, together with a screenshot: I was trying to add XIRBI before LFMN. Log.txtcrash_log.txt This looks like a random one. Sometimes I can edit fpl in flight w/o crashing. If you tell me xsquawkbox could be the reason of the crash, I'll try to replicate after deactivating it (but as I do only enjoy flying online...) BTW, I also found a reliable way to CTD: select a TO fix on the FPL page with no destination airport would cause a 100% CTD. Won't call that a bug as it's not within "standard use", but any CTD would be nice to prevent. Thks for support, Charles Win7 - X-Plane 9.7 - CRJ 1.41 - VASFMC_NATIVE_1201

Take Command! CRJ-200 Version 1.4.1 Update Released!
charly replied to Cameron's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
You're right! I'll RTFM next time. BTW, pilotview setup is finished, I have a complete LFML-LFLB fpl loaded, included SID & STAR (love that new ACT-SEL logic!), up to here it works like a charm. Time to start APU... Charles -
Take Command! CRJ-200 Version 1.4.1 Update Released!
charly replied to Cameron's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
Hi folks, The performance improvement on my machine is just ENORMOUS. Gone from low 20's FPS to 35 constant. It just doesn't make any difference now, should the displays be on or off (was dropping fps from 35 to 20). What to say? THANKS!!!!!! I was about to drop my (previously bottlenecking) CPU and throw some hundred euros in a new one and its motherboard. I just won't. OK, now I will try the FMS. And BTW, Cameron: don't say installer will not erase settings... I now have to redo my complete custom pilotview set-up! ;-) Cheers! -
Will the CRJ work on my hardware? Test available!
charly replied to Cameron's topic in Canadair CRJ-200 - Released!
Might be KDE then... at least the installer works within the shell. So with clear instructions I guess users experiencing problems could do that... all that to say pleeeease do not postpone the release for that little-tiny-minor-insignificant issue! -

Attached! BTW, seen that: warning: Could not load shared library symbols for 11 libraries, e.g. /tmp/tclAZafNw. Use the "info sharedlibrary" command to see the complete listing. So I've run "info shared library", you've got the result at the end of the log. Looks like there are some missing libs. Oh, and I think a linux installer may not be mandatory if it just unzips the files in the good folder... linux users won't be upset if they have to do manually! I didn't know when I bought the card... but don't say they're not making progress: starting from catalyst 11.4 they have introduced video V-sync on Linux! what a achievement! (nvidia has that for yeaaaaaars). Never ATI again... CRJ.txt -

charly replied to Cameron's topic in Canadair CRJ-200 - Released!
Hi Cam! x64 machine & OS. Go back to my previous post, I've edited it: I finally got it to work, but had to launch the installer from the shell. And it works! CRJ WILL work! Complete specs: Kubuntu x64, Raedon HD4850 1GB, stock drivers shipped with K/Ubuntu (8.84.6). So you just have to fix the installer... BTW, does the installer do anything more than putting the plane in the right folder for Linux? And, BTW again, does anybody have a trick to get X-plane working nice on Linux with ATI graphics? (I drop down -30 fps compared to Windows, can't get any antialiasing, artefacts everywhere, and I had that on all Ubuntu versions since 9.10...). I'm running X-plane on specific win dual-boot 'cause of that, but as the CRJ performs better on Linux, I'd like fixing that... Cheers, Charles
