  1. The YD on the GFC700 autopilot is optional, and most SR20s of this age (and indeed the current model) don't come with the YD option on the GFC700.

The SR22 always comes with GFC700+YD, and has an 'auto' setting above 200' AGL.

You are right that the YD can still be engaged in the Torquesim G1000 SR20 (using key command).  I think that is just a limitation of the Laminar G1000 software; YD seems to be always available.   To fly the SR20 realistically, don't use the YD (as it's not available on the SR20 GFC700) and use rudder trim to get co-ordinated in the climb / cruise.

  2. Hi,

I own the Torquesim SR22 G1000, SR20 Entegra (can't run this one due to severe performance stutters on my machine :( ), and yesterday bought the SR20 G1000.

I know it's unrealistic, but I used Planemaker to change the SR20 to have nosewheel steering (my old pedals are just too twitchy for directional braking!).   While in there, I noticed that the ACF file for the SR20 shows a power rating of 313hp?   (The same as the SR22).

Am I right in thinking that this value is not used by your simulation, as your engine modelling is custom?   No issues with this, I'm literally just curious, as I was expecting to see 200hp there :)

    Cheers.

  3. Hi,

It's nice to see the A/C is modelled in the SR22.  Just one area of feedback - there is no fan or blower sound at all when the fan is turned up.   In the real SR22 the fan is very loud when on it's highest setting.

It would be nice to see (or hear) this added.

    Thanks.

Thank you all for your help. I tried loading the aircraft again and now, I am getting CTDs again.

Unfortunately repeating the steps that worked earlier no longer work. I am attaching the log for further analysis

    Hi Sam,

I was suffering constant CTDs, despite the Gizmo activation going ok and the licence being shown as activated.   The solution that finally got me flying in the SR22 was to do the opposite of the advice, to load the Laminar C172 first.

After several uninstall/reinstalls, when I finally tried for the first time to simply launch X-Plane and load the SR22 directly, it worked without issue.

It seems the "Load the C172 first" advice isn't always the best route.

    Good luck.

Every time I load in the turbo version I CTD.

I'm done trying. I want to enjoy my purchase. Going to fly the normal variant since I know that works.

You're lucky!  Neither variant will load for me.   It's hours since I bought this and haven't even seen a SR22 on my screen yet.  No issues with activation (with the C172 loaded).  The Gizmo Licencing screen shows the SR22 is activated, but as soon as I try to load either variant, I get a CTD.

    Very frustrating.

  6. The biggest thing that improved all aspects of ground handling (taxi and t/o roll) in the TBM for me, was setting "stability augmentation" on the yaw axis, completely off.     I'd turned it on, assuming it would settle things down, but now understand the TBM was coded specifically for this value to be off. With it off, and by following these tips, I no longer have any issues; ground control is now perfect (and believe me, when I first tried the plane, it was absolutely awful!)

    - Rudder trim MUST be set, but not as far as the green area; about half way between neutral and the green area.

    - Calibrate your rudder pedals axis in your controller profile, before EVERY flight.

    - Introduce power very steadily on the take off roll (I usually take off with 85-90% torque).

.....another optional tip that can settle the TBM's control sensitivity down, is to carry extra fuel.

I always make a backup copy of entire X-Plane folder before applying update.

I will always do this from here forward! :D

Hi Goran, yes, I've now managed to perform my first flight since purchase, by loading the C172 G1000 first, programming my FPL, then changing the the TBM.   So very pleased it's the same issue as others have, and not performance related. (I had 50+ FPS - amazing!)

    Cheers.

@JYW If you haven't already found this in the previous posts, make sure you DO NOT enter a Flight Plan or touch the ENT button. I have been flying no problem with the current issues provided you don't mess with the FLT or ENT buttons. And it doesn't matter if you are doing this through the PFD or MFD, touch the buttons and you will CTD. I'm having no trouble flying or with any system until inputting a flight plan entry or location input, and pushing the ENT button. It's not ideal, but it should get you flying.

Thanks Dwight - with your help, I have been able to perform my first flight since purchase!     I loaded a flight with the C172 G1000, programmed my entire flight plan (inc. PROCS), and then changed to the TBM.    I was able to fly a full leg, although didn't dare try to make any FPL changes.

    Thanks,

    Bill

Have to agree here. Bought the aircraft 3 days ago and have not been able to complete a single flight.. feels like a waste of money but I’m sure it will be worth the wait.

I'm in exactly the same position James.   Bought last night and not currently usable.   But.... it's clear that it's not Hot Start's fault, but Laminar and their highly suspect release candidates as of late.

Hopefully we'll be flying the TBM soon!

...identical point at which it crashes for me.  Haven't even been able to hear my lovely engine yet! :)

This looks like you’re running out of memory half way through loading. You also have a graphics card that is almost definitely struggling to keep up. Try turning down your graphics settings in x plane and closing some background programs. A good method for the graphics adjustment is to go lowest settings possible, then turn them up bit by bit until you crash.

    Hi,

I temporarily installed my son's 1080 GPU this afternoon and turned every setting in XP11 to minimum.  Same crash at the same point (engine start), so definitely not an out of memory.

    Hi Goran,

Thanks - the plane does fully load up.  It's only when I turn on the GPU or battery and the AHIRS starts aligning that the crash happens.  FPS at this point are pretty high (40+FPS).  Settings are already pretty modest but I'll try again with even  lower settings.     My GPU certainly is modest but manages with all other complex aircraft - I've never seen any crash like this before.

If I was running out of memory, wouldn't this give a specific "out of memory" error message, rather than a run time error?

I'll mess around with my settings but also await the update for the other compatibility issues between XP11.31 / 11.32 and the TBM.

It's awful buying such a lovely aircraft and not having been able to use it all.

  12. Literally bought this product this evening, and get a Run Time Error within seconds of it loading.

Although you can see the XP11 loading screen plane below, this is simply because XP11 launches again after the Runtime.   The error occurs a few seconds after the TMB is loaded.      Never had any crash or error like this in XP before.     Gutted!
