Yeh,frustrating, but better to get it right before releasing, seeing as Microsoft is also working on a new sim as well! A well polished release will certainly capture more "fsx" fans which is good for the X-Plane development on the whole!

Wow thanks"PhM" to that link of the Malta Scenery! Well designed with many great features. I used to live there many years ago and this brings back memories! Also,the Tenerife scenery is excellent too!

Had nice flight to lukla and back! Struggled with the Cessna 172 there for height,making lots of course corrections,missing the airfiled by 6 miles then nearly overshooting on my my first landing! Waited an hour for others to arrive then flew back to Kathmandu!

"Lis", so I need to download"Vroute"? So I don't need Xsquawkbox,vatsim then? I am really confused I looked on some of the sites suggested and read all about Xponder,etequete,setup etc etc but nothing about how to actualy fly online with others. I also noticed when I went to an airport,say Heathrow,London that I cannot find ATC,tower frequencies,only runway ILS numbers.I see other aircraft taxiing but no sound etc. I know FSX was different in some ways so maybe I have a massive learning curve to understand how X-Plane works or its' limitations? thanks again! I downloaded "Vroute" and can see lots of data listed but how do I join their sessions(rooms)or am I off the track? Sorry but am totally confused.I have used online before and it was as simple as "join a game,room" and that was that!

I've recently purchased X-Plane 9, downloaded Vatsim and succesfully connected online but where do I actualy go as all airfields are empty and no chatter? Previously I used another server on fsx that showed all the rooms so am somewhat lost on this new system! I appreciate any pointers to where I need to go or do!Thanks!

Being of an ex military background I was fortunate to spend a few years flying(not pilot) on the RAF fleet of C130 Hercules , Bristol Britannia, De Havilland Comet 4c, Vickers VC10 and actual time on the stick in the Chipmunk as PPL. Recently I spent time on the C130J simulator at RAF Lyneham in the UK. I have sat at the controls of a real Hercules sortie over Wales and can make comparisons to the sims behaviour in everything but the sensations of real flying,aka, the stress and anticipation of really flying and the uephoria one gets! I've had over 900 flights and many hours in sims. Now,semi-retired I enjoy my home hobby and recently bought X-Plane 9 and look forward to the online community to add "some real de-facto"to the experience! If I could afford it now I would certainly take up the PPL again! Alas I now spend my time on the home sim,but at least I can get up and stroll around or leave the sim for another day!lol :D

I'm interested in doing this fly in to Lukla, but I've never used Vatsim . have installed it and connected online but now what? How do I find other people as all the airfields I've gone to are empty and no chatter anywhere? I went to Kathamndu and sat there for a while with no life anywhere!lol Any advice please is appreciated as I do want to fly Sunday! Thanks

Ok thanks for that info! I got them installed ok except for "VNLK Lukla" where the runway is tilted sideways at about 30*. I am using the latest update so maybe this scenery is not compatible with this version? I've taken a pic.

Hi, As I'm new to X-Plane I am still learning where all the files go! I have downloaded some freeware scenery but don't know where to install it to or set up? One folder for example has 3 folders within,(Earth Nav Data,Objects and TerrainTextures). Do I place this entire folder into "Custom Scenery" and that's it? Thanks for any info!

Hi, I'm new to X-Plane and enjoying the much improved physics,lighting and realism over fsx which I previously used. I was curious to try the sloped runways and went to "Lukla" airfield to try it out.When I got there I was dissapointed to find the runway populated with trees! Is there any way for me to remove these in this airport vicinity or maybe there's mesh already available? Thanks!
