  2. Yeah I've been reading up on it and understand that now, it's frustrating because I'm not yet good enough to go on VATSIM so I'll have to make do for practice

I am planning on getting a new machine for £400 - £900 anyway.
  4. Hiya, I firstly love this aircraft, it's a pleasure. However, at random points of a flight, X Plane decides to crash and leave me at the desktop. I have a macbook (rather old now) and I'm not sure how to get my specs, but I can run every single other aircraft (I.e Boeing 777 Worldliner) and I find it weird that my machine can run these other aircraft but not this one. All of my settings are at pretty much minimum :-( Can anyone please give me some guidance? Thank you in advance Andrew
  5. Thank you - have purchased the subscription with a lot of trouble haha, thanks for the links
  6. Hey guys. I know that these computer threads are getting rather annoying now haha, but I've searched and found a few threads about building computers with all of the technical language. Can someone please be a great help and link me to a couple of Windows desktop computers that will run X Plane and/or FSX well at quite high settings? Either that or send me a building spec so I can just enter the spec into a computer building website. I plan to use some custom scenery and payware aircraft on X Plane at least. *I can possibly stretch to £950 or £1000 Thanks in advance Andrew
  7. Hi all I have searched the forums - just to let you know. The thing is I am having trouble mainly with getting STARs to link up with the runways so I can fly straight in, they always seem to leave me away from the airfield. I'm especially having trouble with the fact that there is no real quality flight planning software where I can see where the STARs etc actually lead to (like FSCommander for FSX) So how can you ensure that STARs link up to runways and is there any good flight planning software? Thank you all in advance andyconor
  8. Hello all I'm relatively new to the virtual piloting world, and I'm hoping you could help me. I am currently flying a Cessna 172sp (like the default one, but the xppl version). I can just about land it on a small runway (Shoreham is my usual one). The thing is I've been practising at it a long time now (must be coming up to 8 months or so). So, to my question, I have been finding myself increasingly jealous about how other virtual pilots (mainly youtubers) manager to manually land an airliner, where I can barely land a Cessna or private jet. If you don't fancy reading much today: In your opinion, what is the best way to practice landings to the extent where you can manually land b747s and a320s professionally? EDIT also, what the hell can I read or watch to become so knowledgable about charts, fuel calculations (pretty much anything apart from flying)? Thank you in advance andyconor
  9. Is that company English? I'm in England so would prefer. Are the i4670 k etc processors? Or gpus? Will post here again when done all suggested
  10. Okay cheers - I really know nothing!!
  11. Hi. Thanks, is a gpu the same as a graphics card?
  12. Would these be sufficient to run x plane? Thank you
  13. I think I will go with the Alienware - I just don't know enough to start building my own. Thanks everyone
  14. I might look into it tomorrow - thanks
  15. Looks like I'll be going with Alienware at the moment! Thanks for the comments, guys
  16. Is there a stickied thread about advice for computers? I understand that there are threads similar to this, but I'd prefer more direct, contextual and relevant advice. Anyway, I'm looking at 2 computers, mainly to play X-Plane and a few other games (fsx, the sims and minecraft). Simple question - which one would be better to buy for it's capabilities to run these at full settings etc? Thanks in advance. (I can't get the direct links, so if you're willing to help, could you google them please) Alienware X51 R2-5476 OR HP Envy Phoenix 800-030ea Gaming PC Thanks andyconor
  17. Okay, thank you. One last thing, whenever I try and lower my altitude (manually, using my joystick), I descend too much and sometimes crash before the runway, how do you descend just the right amount without too much? I often find myself using pitch trim but that doesn't really work because there is a massive delay between me pressing the button and the pitch changing up/down. Thanks
  18. Yeah I would just like to be able to confidently line my plane up manually without ils now because whenever I land I usually go to the left or right of the runway not down the centre
  19. Whilst I'm here (just starting X-Plane up) has anyone got any helpful tips re lining the plane up to the centre line of the runway when flying manually? Thanks andyconor
