Things are marginally improved but along the way I have inherited a Blue/Grey 3cm line running from side to side. Within this line there are many Tiny Red lines which appear as a boarder to the Glare Shield and round the Aircraft in an external view. What I have activated whilst trying to set the frame rate up I have no idea. I just know it was not there before I started fiddling. The frame rate is hovering between 8 and 14.5 now depending on the view. Not good but better than 4. Mick. It was the HD Rendering. I turned it off and hay presto the lines were gone and the frame rate, with the cabin in 3D mode, has jumped to 22,5+ or-.1 or2

I have wound a few more things down and am now at 15+ Fps. However it looks like I will never get it right without changing my PC. No can do I am afraid. Already with the marginal improvement I am loosing aircraft definition and poor scenery. The price you pay for progress. Thanks anyhow guys for trying. Mick.

Thanks Jim As it is the rendering options are almost all turned off. When I activated the "Set all options for maximum speed" I lost most of the scenery and the glare shield on the 787 became unreadable. I will however give it another go. What graphics card I need is now the question. Mick

Rendering options. The files contain the info you require to help me. I hope you can see them. If not I will have to try again.
-
OK Now I need to be clear. 1 The rendering settings are where ? 2 The complete system spec is where? And can both be copied and pasted or is the screen shot exactly what it implies. Shift/space in the game/sim.? Sorry to sound such a numpty but I am bordering on my limits when it comes to accessing the internal workings of the computer. X Plane Australia summed it up but Kieran sounds as though he may solve it. Mick. Delving into the unknown at the age of 74. lol. I have found the Rendering Options screen , How do I take a screen shot of it? and where will it be when I have done it so I can retrieve it and post it here?
-
Thanks guys As you can see two posts up I have found them. I now need to know how to interpret them and what to do to change them for the better. Mick.

Sorry I don't know where to look for them. It will be somewhere obvious but Where? Mick Found it Here is all the display. Currently the aircraft is sat on the end of a runway at valencia.FMC loaded. f-act F-Sim Frame Cpu Grnd Flit 4.615 19.90 0.216 0.414 1.000 1.000 Sec Sec Time Load ratio ratio The airport sim is a good one plenty of detail.

Here is what I can gleen. Firstly the sim is running on an i5 PC .I opened the rendering options panel and here is what is activated " Ticked ".[ Compress textures to save VRAM ], [Texture Res: High]. [ Frame rate lock was set to Lock. I have now unlocked it but not flown anything since]. [Gamma is 2.2.] Stuff to draw [ View indicator ] [ Runways follow contours ] Special Effects [ 3D Bump maps ] [ Gritty detail textures ] [Draw per pixel lighting ] Cloud detail 45%. In the Opps and warnings panel I have Flight Model at 0.2 It was at 0.1 but I has all the flight surfaces ossilating during flight and the night sky also, plus the First officer in the 787 cabin was shaking his head all the time. Once I set to 0.2 all this stopped. All the above settings are " factory set " that is I have nwvwr touched them apart from the Flight Model.

OK I am slowly getting there. It will never be perfect because I can not afford all the add ons to make it perfect. So I will buy a few well moddled airports in Europe and fly between them. However that aside I now need to solve the"Time in the air" issue. Flights taking 3 hours + ( Say Glasgow to Valencia ) are taking 9 hours. The actual time clock in the 787 reads correct every time I switch on but the Time Elapsed readout runs a delay of 3 seconds for every 1 passed. This mutiplied up accounts for the massive time spent on " short " flights. Somewhere in the system I will be able to rectify this but I can not find where. Any ideas??? MIck in anticipation. While I wait I have just observed the clock again. I find that for every 1 minute actual time passed the sim has only moved forwards 12 Seconds. This is worse than I thought as it is a 5 to 1 negative ratio . So flights are taking 5 times longer than they should.

Thanks Andy. I will look this up on the X Plane Map . As yet I am always flying silent as I have not figured out how to contact the local tower or ground. I will run a flight from Leeds Bradford ( my local airport ) into Edinburgh and see how it goes. Mick.

Hi folks I am getting to grips with the KC-10 using a flight into EGPH which I have made up from waypoints ,NDB's etc. However I ,via the Map facility, have been flying the last 10 Nm into the two runways. The aircraft is set up at 2800 Ft, right on course for the runway. 063 or 243. The Glide slope is activated at 8 Nm,s but when I looked at the Pilots infomation for EGPH ILS approach it stated the approach hight should be 4000 ft. If this is correct and is moddled in the X-Plane Sim then how far out from the airport does the localizer cone reach to. Once I know this then I can tweak my FMC plan to bring me into the last Waypoint, NDB,VOR whatever would be the final track.to intercept the localizer. By the way the scenery into Edinburgh is amazing especially using real weather situation. Mick. Definitely getting there. Imported this pic with KC-10 at 500 Ft + or- but it has not loaded as I expected.

Log Text.txtX-Plane Installer Log.txtThanks for that, Sorry been offline for a day or so. However the programme is running OK at the moment due to the fact I am in " Bare Bones " / " Basic installation mode. I have installed the upgrades which it lists every time I open the programme and they have not had any adverse effect. I am however flying into " Buildingless airports and using the default aircraft. Can you point me in the direction of " Safe " add ons. ie, ones that will not corrupt the programme alonf the way. I notice that most of the Add ON scenery requires a number of other installations for them to work. " opensceneryX, ruscenery,Fflod etc, etc. " . How safe are these? Also there are a number of Freeware and Payware aircraft and airports available. I downloaded some of these into my original installation and more than probably one or more of these corrupted the programme. Prior to uninstalling the programme I had a massive number of fault notifications every time I attempted to use the programme. As I said earlier this game' relies on external modifications to be made for any semblence of reality,in flight and on the ground , can be achieved. A happier Mick .

Sorry I have a Copy of the Log sat on the desktop but I do not know how to get it to you. The file is massive. If I open it in this window it crashes the programme. I have overnight reinstalled X-Plane and in its " Bare Bones " state it is working without seeking missing files. I also have resisted downloading the Upgrades which it says are available every time I open up. It still will not save the most basic of flights. The configuration of the FMC is usually corrupted. I am flying the KC-10. No Sids or Stars available in its FMC. It hung onto the Glareshield settings but added 3500 Nm's to the distance. I was flying Edinburgh to London and was over Carlisle when I saved. While in Map Mode I reloaded the flight again and this brought some normality back to the FMC but not totally. Getting there slowly. Mick

I have once again removed the programme from the PC. It is now crashing every time I try to introduce a Flight Plan. Firstly it will not store the plan then once I click on the blank Flight plan graphic it pops up with 6 or 7 " Files missing " pop ups.Once I have scrolled through them it crashes.I have attempted and succeeded in downloaded various custom scenery files. All of which the programme depends upon if you are to fly into airports with buildings etc. In fact X-Plane would fail without them. You have only to look at the YouTube videos and latest tutorials using expensive add on aircraft to see what I mean.. All the add on material I have stashed away on an external pod in case I get the programme to work again. Many of the airports will not work/show unless you have downloaded " opensceneryX, ruscenery,Fflod etc, etc. Thie presence of these downloads has no bearing on my problems as I have only the bare bones installed. I am going to attempt to contact Graphsim again as they wrote the programme. If I get no joy from them then I will go to the top of X-Plane .com They will get some very adverse publicity if they do not help. Before anybody asks, what am I attempting to run the programme on. Windows 7 Intel Core i5 Intel HD Graphics, 8 GB Memory, 1 TB hard drive with 1TB external HD available. It is not the computer. Mick

As an addon, it now will not attempt to save anything saying there are a mass of files missing. I have no idea what is wrong with this programme. Especially when it says the problem is possibly because the files were downloaded from a CD in the first place. Well how else would I have introduced them if I have bought the programme via a boxed 2 CD set.? It gets dafter and dafter.
