  1. Well, have to change a comment I made. I've since REINSTALLED my second version of X-Plane back onto my original hard drive. Decided to use the SSD drive only for the VR version, and since the settings are different for the VR and the desktop monitor, it's a bit easier to switch from one to the other this way.
  2. Just a follow up, I upgraded to a SSD last year (and a 48 inch curved monitor!) and had no problems. In fact, I left the copy of X-Plane on my old drive AND installed it on the SSD at the same time by just copying the folder over to the new drive. Ran it on both drives so I could see the difference, and have had no problems with either one since then. I have since deleted the one on the old drive and only use the SSD now...BTW, I also upgraded to the Vulkan Beta version and selected the Vulkan setting in the graphic setup and have almost doubled my FPS! That and the SSD have made an amazing improvement!
  3. I don't think there's any problem. I have it installed in two locations on this computer (one with the graphics set up for VR on an SSD, and the other for my curved screen monitor with the program running on a conventional hard drive) and on my laptop, so I can play with it when not home. No problems yet!
  4. I have a Long EZ (a real one, not a sim!) at the Canandaigua Airport, and after seeing that the X-Plane version of Canandagua not only had the taxiways on the wrong side, AND still uses the old 3200 foot runway, and having done a couple of highly rated golf courses for the Links Golf simulation, I decided to try my hand at a more accurate version of D38 for X-Plane. I was going to do photo accurate hangars and buildings (including the new Ontario County Sheriff's building on the airport) and have taken photographs of all sides of them so I can use Sketchup to create the buildings and later convert them for X-Plane use. But after spending the time improving the runway, taxiways and roads, I ran out of patience and just used the default buildings and objects in WED. At any rate, the runway, taxiways, lights, tarmac, many objects and the building locations are accurate, so I decided it was time to freeze the design for now and upload it. A major problem is that the new, real life 5500 foot runway extends beyond Thomas Road, the real road was terminated on both sides of the runway and turn arounds built into it. I didn't do anything with the roads in the X-Plane version, so if you select anything higher than "default" for the roads in Rendering Settings, Thomas road will cross the runway...as do the cars that X-Plane puts on it! The driveway that goes to the airport is also treated as a road, and it goes through the beacon and main hangar. So, if you use this airport, set the roads to default or less and those roads will look fine. I did see the screenshots from the version that 79Carboy uploaded, and although his detail is more complete than mine, I see that he is also using the old runway and stock hangars and buidings as I did. So, if there is any interest, I'll share the new 5500 foot runway version for all to ponder and criticize! Maybe someday I'll get around to tweaking it. Meanwhile, at least it looks accurate from 500 feet up! The attached image shows my X-Plane version of my Long EZ flying passed the new D38... Harley Dixon Long EZ N28EZ (Real one!)
