What to do for a couple of checklist items?

There are a couple of checklist items that say to CHECK an item. Not sure what I am to check for.

 

Before Engine Start

 Hydraulics (CHKD) - check for what?

 

Climb

T/O Inhibit (OUT)  - the light is out, is that what you check?

 

Approach

HP Valves (SET) - to what?

 

Landing

 Hydraulics (CHKD) - check for what?

 

That is all - nothing critical or anything. I am still flying around without knowing these things, so am guessing they are not too important!
