Oliver Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Hi Guys, here's a little tribute I quickly made, the plane I'm flying is a mix of his A330 MRTT and his A330 Air France, reason being the A330 MRTT has realistic gears, so I found a way to give those realistic gears to the Air France A330. The scenery is FSX SBGL. First song is brothers in arms by celtic thunder, and second song is Never Forget by Martin O'Donnell. PS Sorry for posting so many videos, I'll be gone for a month in France and won't be able to post anything so I guess I'm posting what I can now ;DAnd again R.I.P Everyone onboard the dreadful flight. MdMax Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 Hi all !Did you read the news about Air France flight 447 today ? The BEA published a new note:http://www.bea.aero/fr/enquetes/vol.af.447/info27mai2011.en.phpThis note describes in a factual manner the chain of events that led to the accident and presents newly established facts. The initial analyses will be developed in a further interim report that is scheduled to be published towards the end of July.Only after long and detailed investigative work will the causes of the accident be determined and safety recommendations issued, this being the main mission of the BEA. The latter will be included in the final report. In the PDF file, page 3, you can find this:At 2 h 12 min 02, the PF said "I don’t have any more indications", and the PNF said "we have no valid indications". At that moment, the thrust levers were in the IDLE detent and the engines’ N1’s were at 55%. Around fifteen seconds later, the PF made pitch-down inputs. In the following moments, the angle of attack decreased, the speeds became valid again and the stall warning sounded again.I'm sure most X-Pilot.com members know what should be done to recover from a stall, or you know exactly what's in Chapter 4 of the FAA Airplane Flying Handbook, but imagine you're not sure that the aircraft is stalling, what would you do if your hear the stall horn when you push the stick ? :-\We still have to wait for the final report... eaglewing7 Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 The reaction of continued stick up inputs was likely due to the disorientation of having your instruments giving conflicting and false readings along with being in IFR conditions. Being in IFR conditions you have no visual cues, which means you need to rely on your instruments, when the instruments are telling you conflicting and false information due to the blocked Pitot and Static ports that is what will happen. Also the human inner ear is unreliable in situations like this where visual cues are not available as the mind will then trick the pilots. Its quite unfortunate that this happened, but I doubt anyone would be able to recover in that situation simply due to the aforementioned conditions, which were also exacerbated by the flight being at night. Maybe if this had happened during the day there would have been a better chance of recovering the aircraft from the stall... Quote
Oliver Posted May 27, 2011 Author Report Posted May 27, 2011 I started tearing up today when I read about the news. The plane stalled at roughly FL380 and dropped at a vertical speed of 10,912ft per minute :'( The stall lasted roughly 3.5 minutes. The scarriest part is for those 3.5 minutes the passengers had time to see themselves die :'(For those of you who understand French there is an 1hr long debate on the last minutes of 447http://www.france5.fr/c-dans-l-air/index-fr.php?page=resume&id_rubrique=1722I'm going to be working on an another tribute video to AF 447 and it should hopefully be uploaded by tomorrow morning.Good luck to everyone coping with this horrible accident. I sure know it took a very emotional toll on me and my entire family knowing many people that work at Air France including one of the flight attendants who was on the doomed flight :-\ Quote
Nicola_M Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 Thanks for the video, Oliver.Quite moving, even for those of us not connected with the tragedy. Quote
