Gwynei Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 Hi, To start off, I'm an X-plane rookie. Though am I wondering, is this effect normal? I was expecting bright runway lights. I even tried mods to get it working (http://forums.x-pilot.com/files/file/435-replacement-day-and-night-lighting-lightstxt-for-x-plane-1020/) While I was expecting this: http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php?app=downloads&module=display§ion=screenshot&record=6318&id=435&full=1 Has it something to do with my video card? I have an ATI Radeon HD7950. Drivers are up to date. Also trying with and without HDR, but in both cases the lighting of runways in the night is very poor. I am using X-plane 10.30 64 bit from Steam. Thanks for your effort to reply Quote
SwissCyul Posted October 6, 2014 Report Posted October 6, 2014 First of all welcome to X-Plane What airport were the screenshots taken? Maybe post a daylight screenshot so we can see what the airport looks like! Because it could be that the specific runway is not lit, or only very low level lighting. Did you try this at another airport or only this one?You should maybe try this add-on: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=20770It makes the night lighting really good!! And maybe post a log.txt so we can see what's wrong Greetings, SwissCyul Quote
Gwynei Posted October 7, 2014 Author Report Posted October 7, 2014 Thanks for your reply m8 This is Hamburg (EDDH), but I experienced the same with all the other airports I have landed on, such as Schiphol (EHAM), Eelde (EHGG), etc. Both default scenery without buildings, as custom scenery (which is Eelde). I will try the addon you mentioned, but I'm afraid that won't change things, because I have tried such addons before without luck. It looks like I am missing the bloom/lens flare at all. Will look into that log.txt thing. Quote
Gwynei Posted October 7, 2014 Author Report Posted October 7, 2014 Okay, I have tried the following things: - Removed ALL my custom scenery- Removed all plugins- Downgraded to AMD Catalyst 13.9 All without success. Included is my Log.txt, with also three screenshots of the same location (default Cessna @ EHGG). You can barely see lights in the night. This is with using lights.txt mentioned by SwissCyul. Please help! Log.txt Quote
Gwynei Posted October 7, 2014 Author Report Posted October 7, 2014 Aaargh this is getting frustrated. I had an old demo version of X-plane (10.25), and I thought, let's just see how that goes. And what do you think? Perfect runway lighting.... Without lights.txt mod: With lights.txt mod: So now the question, is this a bug in X-plane 10.30r2? Or is it Steam related? I am running a local file check on Steam now, just to be sure.... I lost it completely now. Quote
SwissCyul Posted October 7, 2014 Report Posted October 7, 2014 Then i think the problem is with X-Plane 10.30r2. I also use .30r2 and have no problems. Maybe you should report this to the developers. Another thing is that your log is full of errors. You should clear some of that scenery to prevent those errors. 1 Quote
Gwynei Posted October 8, 2014 Author Report Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) Yesterday I mentioned that I was going to verify my local game files using Steam. And apparently that process found a mismatch, and there was a 220 KB update from Steam... WHICH FIXED MY ISSUE Thanks for your help! Edited October 8, 2014 by Gwynei Quote
StevenB Posted January 14, 2015 Report Posted January 14, 2015 I'm having this exact issue at the moment! I do not have the Steam version of X Plane 10 so i'm not sure what to do. When I first start up the simulator, the lights and everything look great, but the moment I 'go to another airport', as in loading a different one, all the lights seem dimmer and runway lights load only if i'm very close to them. Any ideas/tips on what to do? Thanks in advance! Quote
StevenB Posted January 14, 2015 Report Posted January 14, 2015 The first photo is a free camera view of KDFW and the surrounding area right after starting X Plane 10. The second photo is the exact same area after I went into Rendering Settings and switching the 'number of objects' option from 'extreme' or 'too many'. The same instance will occur if I tell the simulator to take me to another airport. Hope this helps!Log.txt Quote
