DenS Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 Hi, I have found that some named intersections and waypoints are missing in the X-Plane 10 Cessna 172 GPS. For example the Venice, Florida Muni airport KVNC, Runway 23 approach plate; ZATUB, CUKBU and ZIKSA are not in the GPS. This is just an example, I have found others missing for this airport, which I consider 'home'. Am I doing something wrong or are they intentionally left out. How can I add them? Any help would be apprecitaed. DenS Quote
ointment Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) It's probably not you. X-Plane nav data may very well be missing those waypoints. The best thing to do when you find missing waypoints, incorrect runway designations, incorrect airport ICAO codes or the like, is e-mail your findings to Robin Peel so he can include the corrections in the next X-Plane Airport and Navigation data update. http://data.x-plane.com/index.htmlFor guidelines on reporting errors, click this link: http://data.x-plane.com/contact.htmlHis e-mail address is robin@x-plane.com Edited February 7, 2014 by ointment Quote
ointment Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 For help adding the waypoints yourself, check out this page: http://wiki.x-plane.com/Category:Scenery_Development Quote
DenS Posted February 7, 2014 Author Report Posted February 7, 2014 Thanks... it is not obvious where waypoints would be added... can you point me in the right direction.DenS Quote
ointment Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 I believe you would use WED to add the data. Read the WED manual. Quote
DenS Posted February 8, 2014 Author Report Posted February 8, 2014 I found the answer in the VATSIM forum: http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=51653 This works for X-Plane 10... Quickie "How to"Find the fix in the FAA Fixes and Waypoints web site: https://nfdc.faa.gov/nfdcApps/services/locId/fixesWaypoints.jspConvert the lattitude and longitude to decimal using the Convert Coordinates site: http://www.earthpoint.us/convert.aspxAdd your new fix to the bottom of the \X-Plane\Resources\default data\earth_fix.dat file (make a back up first).Be careful to follow the format, i am not sure how critical it is but why take a chancehere are four new fixes I added using the Notepad++ editor (a great freebie): 27.230394 -82.260472 ZATUB 27.136300 -82.366703 CUKBU 27.104161 -82.402928 ZIKSA 26.912333 -82.618452 WUPOSSave the file, open XPlane and you have your new fixes. Thanks to Ointment and the guys over on VATSIM who lead me in the right direction... this will be a big help as i populate some more fixes around my home port of Venice Fl.
