Hi :)

@ Blacky

I would if possible know what's the correct folders and range in the customer scenery you use ?

For me personnaly I have different buildings, houses they are flickered, I presume that they are twice objects on the same place and I will resolve this situation.

So, can you be so gentle to communicate us the right thing to do.

Thanks and K.R.

Tony,

I'm testing the new 0.4.0 in sd, Germany still takes ages to load, its the only country with this problem, nearly 10 minutes!! Ok mine is not a supercomputer but the difference compared to the other packages is huge. Anybody can confirm?

Super shots Guro, thanks for sharing :-). This reminds me of the time I went to Geneva in real life and the fountain was switched off the entire time. Upon departing, it was switched on, and everyone could see in from the plane, lots of swearing and sighing from the passengers :D.

Yes I can confirm, it takes me about 15 minutes to load Germany (with any version). It's simply huge, this is the reason, especially if you are using it with HD Mesh and photoscenery also. This is one of the reasons I've started to downgrade to ZL16 photoscenery, because the loading times for any country are insane.

And will be even more problematic if one uses long range visibility in the upcoming X-Plane 10.30 .... where it will load 12 instead of 6 scenery tiles. It will also eat your RAM for lunch :D ... (with HD Mesh Scenery v2 and world2xplane scenery you will be safe with 32 GB RAM ... or 16 GB will still work so-so if you have some fast swap space on a good SSD).

On the positive side, 10.30 will allow you to switch long range visibility on or off (from rendering settings), and it also has an improved loading mechanism (more parallelized) which speeds up things a bit.

Hmm how do you know all this ? are you beta testing for LR ?

Of course he is. He is the X-Plane's scenery master, and author of the HD Mesh :)

Not right not right. even i am testing :)

Hey tony hmm using Z16 with the HD mesh work ? sorry man i am asking again, but downloading Z17 in Gb's is too much for me :)

I thinking of using Z16 with the Mesh.

Hey BTW Frankfurt loads fine.

Yes it does, in fact that's what I'm using now, because loading times are driving me mad. I think most of Simheaven's ZL16 sceneries have the HD Mesh included.

I don't know about the loading times. I feel they are ok with Z17 (Geneva).  But I am going with z16.

As I am a "freelancer" for Laminar since - phew , lets think - 5 years(?), yes I usually get internal beta builds too ... And what I wrote are direct "results" from a few tests I did with world2xplane scenery.

You can find some infos on my background here:

Nice Andras.

Well than i should ask you this. what about better performance with 10.30 ? Or is it just load times ?

This is something I will not comment on ... because this is very very very relative and extremely, highly dependent on your hardware, your settings, your scenery, your aircrafts ... and neither is the code final. But at least, it didn't seem to be worse on my machine. Even with the high visibility, after loading all the extra scenery tiles (which takes longer ... very long with world2xplane scenery - but thats not new), the FPS were OK (which is again relative - my machine is a bit dated at the moment) and seemingly not worse than before.

I'll just add that I'm actively working on trying to reduce the complexity of the scenery, e.g. By reducing the number of unneeded vertex points on a facade or road, and by the on going effort of reducing the triangle count of all our buildings and replacing the R2 ones with our own versions.

Once 0.4.0 is out, Simheaven will start to produce sceneries using the SD config file, which has lots of stuff taken out which really wasn't needed and was there simply because the program can do it. Several users have reported better frame rates with this, but loading times still are proving to be a problem.

Also, an important thing to remember about the loading times is if you are using World2XPlane scenery and also have Simheaven's OSM2XP Europe scenery, disable the OSM2XP if you're not using it. This way, the scenery will load faster and use less memory, as it won't need to process exclusions for both files which is pointless because they mainly encompass exactly the same areas.

Yep it is hardware dependent no doubt about that.

Clouds is a killer though.

I'd suggest Skymaxx Pro. It really helps framerates when using the clouds, and I've been able to have real weather without a huge hit on framerates.

Tony,

Are you also generating roads  ? can you skip the roads and the lights ?  Hmm other stuff should be Ok i guess.

Hey where are the windmills in NL don't see them. Used to have them with OSM2XP.

I think i will go outside victor and see if I see them

Is that freeware ? I am using some other HD clouds and realistic skies.

Tony,

I'm still experiencing problems with Germany. Ok, I can wait 15-20 mins for it to load and then i can fly pretty well within the loaded tiles, but whenever I fly from outside to Germany at the loading of the scenery, when crossing the boundaries of the country, my sim is completely stuck! I cant live without Germany so is there a way i can build a "lighter" scenery for it, which behaves like the other countries? Thanks.
