CJVPS Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Hi to all I'm building my rig for air sim and I've pretty much decided all the components except the GPU, because I have this doubt that keeps annoying me. It is not related to the model (it will be GTX 760 ou 770) but with the amount of RAM. Speaking in terms of performance - and I'm not seeking those ultra-hd youtube videos, just with decent detail and smooth FPS - are 50 or so dollars worth the additional 2GB?Because with those extra 50 bucks I could spend them on addons or 1/2 of a saitek pro flight... The rig will be:Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVOCorsair CS750M 750W 80 Plus Gold ModularG.Skill Trident X DDR3 2400 PC3-19200 8GB 2x4GB CL10Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4Ghz Box Also bear in mind that I currently fly FS2004 on a Pentium CPU, 2GB RAM and 1GB GPU... Thankyou in advance Quote
sqrt(-1) Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 I have a 2GB GTX680 and I now wish I had gone for the 4GB version at the time. High resolution textures quickly devour VRAM.Posted from my Lumia 920 via Tapatalk Quote
hobofat Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 When I look at my VRAM usage in X-Plane, I'm glad I went with the GTX 770 4-gb. Quote
MercuryMat Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 4gb without any doubt. Sent from Tapatalk Quote
wim1976 Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Same here, I use an 4GB GTX 770, because I saw a serious drop-down in fps when using heavy scenery with my older card. Quote
dwayne299 Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Definitely 4GB. I have run out of vram a few times with 2GB. Quote
AnonymousUser68 Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Yep, if you haven't caught the drift already 4GB is the go. Well selected parts, looks like your going to have lots of fun with the new computer! Quote
